Tim Payne with the beginning of spring comes the start of a new sport. Hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet. One thing is obviously missing from the set of words. You said it...BASEBALL. Yes, along with the flowers, baseball blo ms with spring. The Crusaders knew that they were in for another tough season this year from the start. A new year brought some exciting new challenges for coach Dobler and the team. One of which was the team's independence from any con- ference. Along with the independence came an added obstacle of playing the bigger Rockford area schools. ' The season started out slowly with a nu ber of rained and snowed-out games, but the Crusaders gained momentum as the season rolled along. Outstanding pitching by Todd Wilson, Mike Dierks, and Mike Mcxinstry anchored the team's performances throughout the year. Craig Lehman added the extra power at the plate for the team to be- come fierce compeditors. This year there were nine returning starters, and with many coming back next year, the Crusaders look forward to another successful season. 5 6'.. ' 1 , I' j . TALENTED PEOPLE Julie Kerestes Talent...one of God's many gifts to us. The ability to show these talents is a talent in itself. A select group of students at Lutheran High School have the ability to show their talents in the art and journalism fields. In order to recognize excellence in these fields, the National Art Honor Society and Quill and Scroll have been established On Friday, February 25, three new s- members were added to these societies. Shawn Reid and Bruce Barnu were inducted into National Art Honor Society, while Beth Mannino was inducted into Quill and Scroll. Beth is now the only member of Quill and Scroll, where Bruce and Shawn joined Debby Walker, Julie Ker- estes, Sandy Kufahl, and Neal Rhodes in Lutheran High School's chapter of National Art Honor Society. 1 HONORED SOCIETY I Beth Mannino Learning to bring out the best in yourself and others combine to make- up the characteristics necessary to become a member of the National Honor Society.
