PEP CLUB IS FANTASTIC I Lorraine Klinger b Where does that school spirit come from? Whose responsible for getting Lutheran High all pepped up for the 'Big Game?' Don't you know it's Pep Club. You say you want to know more, like who is in it, and what does Pep-Club do? Pep Club is just what it sounds like, a group of students that want to add a little thrill to the school. It's a place to make friends and then go to all those wild football and bas- ketball games. Pep Club always plans a couple of suprises for the school during homecoming week. Among these suprises were an ice cream eating contest, and three legged races. They also made the banner the guys bombard through on home games. Who helps run this group of explo- sive students2 Miss Erhardt is the ad- visor and the group officers are Pres- idents Jerry Cazaniga, Vice-president: Chris Mueller, Secretary: Tracy Oellig 5 and Treasurer: Bonnie Henning. YQ 'ef '5f, wax , READY T0 CHEER Valerie Allman 'Hey, are you ready to cheer?n The Crusaders are here. The 1982-83 season held many changes and many additions to the cheer- leading squad. One of the major changes in the make-up of the squad, was the fact that there were nine on the squad. The cheerleaders had many fund raisers to pay for the new uniforms. The varsity cheerleaders consisted of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Melanie Fordell and Barb Oelke were the two Seniors, Julie Kerestes, Tracey Oellig, and Beth Mannino were the Juniors. Valerie Allman, Beth Cunningham, and Angie Johnson were the'Sophomores Shirlee Peterson was the alternate for the varsity squad. To help the varsity squad in practice, Marge Lake, one of the Crusader fans, volunteered her time and talent. She gave the squad a new aspect of cheerleading. A new look was added during basketball season. There was a Freshmen squad added to cheer for Freshmen basketball and the Sophomore Tournament. It is hoped that the members of this squad will try-out for varsity squad next year. Those on the squad were, Michelle Dettman, Nancy Dierking, Shannon Enderson, Debbie Koser, Lisa Sweeny, and Beneta Weatherall. The advisor for both squads was Miss Burch. She continued to work to bring the squad closer together to create an atmosphere Q full of spirit. 6

HAVE GAVEL WILL TRAVEL Rob Davidson One might ask, nwhat more can such an unbelievable, stupendous, titanic, dazzling, noble, brave, honest, good- looking, and modest organization do than they have done in the past?n A lot! After all, lets remember the famous words used by President Carter in an address to the National Institute-for the Chronically Academic. He stated n...in these days of trying times, one must lock to the true organiza- tions, those which are undervalued, overworked, and fun-loving.n I'm pretty sure these were his words, but what the heck, we know he was referring to the LHS Student Coun- cil. Yes, one should realize that much was done and much will be done.. Behind the direction of President Tom Wachter and advisor Mr. Dale Wolfgram, the Student Council has brought us many activities such as the new student get-together, bon- fire, movie nights, and our ever famous dances. The Student Council is the gov- erning body of students that arrang- es various activities. 3 8
