DIDJA KNOW? The following are the results of the survey that was taken in the high school early in the second semester To eliminate any doubt as to the accuracy of the results, the original copies will be left on file in the office open to your personal inspection The favorite candy bar of the students at Luther High School is Milky Way Hersheys and Mounds tied for second place Pop is the favorite drink with coke the favorite brand Cherry was the dominant flavor although several preferred rum with theirs The Rialto in Boone was voted over the Collegian in Ames as the fav orite theater Of course we must take into consideration the fact that the Colleg ian has no balcony Betty Grable was voted the favorite movie actress, and Van Johnson nosed out Bing Crosby by the narrow margin of one vote to head the list of actors The best restaurant in the estimation of the students ls the Chick a Dine Dirty Jim s was also high in the running Although some students picked datmg as their favorite extra curmcu lar activity the mayorlty chose basketball Almost everyone thought roses looked and smelled the best of all the flowers LOOK and LIFE tied for first place as the favorite magazine Several of the boys admitted they enjoyed the pictures in ESQUIRE much more A host of books received votes but the one that was enjoyed most by the greatest number ls Village in August papers Ice cream with one more vote than fried ch1cken is the favorite food Although some boys picked girls as their favorite pets they were fourth behind dogs, horses and cats in that order 'Some Sunday Mcrning is at present the favorite song According to the survey Farmall is the best tractor with John Deere beating out Case for second place The race between Ford and Chevrolet was close to the finish Final results Ford is the best by one vote Eleven boys and an equal number of girls wear glasses at least part of the time Of the twenty two students who possess drivers licenses, only three are girls Jane Morrow is the glrl with the best looking hair Zita McCoy IS second and Charlotte Doud Mary Herrstrom Velma Groomes Alberta Jagerson and Leota Johnson were tied for third Twelve other girls received votes Donald Seaton is the boy with the best looking hair with Paul McCoy second, and Weldon Soderstrum third Nine others were 1n the runnmg Jane Morrow with twenty one votes, headed the list of twenty girls who received votes as the best looking girl ln Luther High Frances Whalen wltlf seven votes was second Mary Herrstrom received six, Ruth Brundage and Zita McCoy four each and Charlotte Doud, Vxvian Henderson and Velma Groomes each had three votes D 1 ' ' ' W O , , , . , - - , o ' A 37 - The Des Moines Register Sz Tribune were picked as the favorite newsl- D .
