BOYS BASKETBALL High lighted by conference county tournament and sectional tournament champwnshlps the boys basketball season was indeed a success Another bright spot was a v1ctory over our anc1ent rivals from Madrid the first one 1n almost 20 years Losses were suffered at the hands of Sheldahl Ogden Granger and Box holm during the regular season and by Wlnttemore in the last game of the season m the district tournament at Webster City As a result of the championships won the boys team rece1ved two very good looking statue troph1es and a placque which along with the girls made a total of five trophies for the season Th1s deluge of troph1es practlcally forced the pur chase of a trophy case as we did not have a good place to keep so many awards Only three lettermen were on hand to start the season Myers forward Seaton center and Morrow guard Morrow and Seaton were reserves 1n 1945 46 who played enough to wm letters Bob Sheehan Jumor and Paul McCoy freshman rap1dly developed 1nto starting guard and forward respectively and these f1ve boys bore the brunt of the attack during the season Weldon Soderstrum developed 1nto a capable reserve and vnth the start1ng five boys won a letter Remalmng members of the squad who saw actlon were Don Anderson center Bob Blomgren Clyde HICKS, and Dean Sigmund forwards, Dale Eppert and Lester Gates guards All squad members but Sherwood Myers and Don Anderson will be available next season so prospects for another year are good H1gh scorer for the season was Myers with 343 points followed by Seaton Wlth 236 The following are the games played this season Luther Luther Luther Luther Luther L uther Luther Luther Luther Luther Luther Luther Luther Sheldahl Slater Luther Luther L uther Luther Luther Luther Luther Luther Luther L uther Luther Beaver Iordan Napier Pllot Mound Slater Ogden Jordan Pilot Mound Madr1d SECOND TEAM GAMES Beaver Luther 41 Madrid Luther 36 Granger Beaver 32 co tourn co tourn P1lot M Beaver Boxholrn Napler Boone Rippey 23 sec tourn Pzlot Mound 28 sec tourn Kelly 29 sec tourn Whittemore 42 district tourn Boxholm 21 Beaver 26 . - 7 , . . , .
