CLASS HISTORY CLASS OF 1946 September 1942 found twenty br1ght and Smlllng freshmen lookmg for vtard to the1r h1gh school careers The ortginal class members were Betty Ahrens Donald Anderson Bonme Burek Lloyd Er1ckson LaVonne H1tsman Ray mond Knox Alberta Tagerson Z1ta McCoy Ke1th Murry Sherwood Myers Robert Derkomch james Peterson B111 Saunders Newton Redmond Malene Severtson B111 Ihsecup James Zenor Everett Moss Darlene Ruddell and Donald W1ll1ams B1ll Saunders left 1n the early part of the year Z1ta McCoy was our f1rst class pres1dent The fall of 1043 found fourteen sophomores w1th the absence of the followmg members Betty Ahrens and LaVonne H1tsman gave up Luther to attend school at Madr1d Everett Moss Darlene Ruddell and Donald W1lliams left us later tn the year We enjoyed ourselves very much operatmg the refresh ment stand on the school grounds durlng the baseball tournaments Our pres1de11t thlq y ar was james Deterson At last upperclassmen Yes we were a 3un1or class composed of fourteen members Early 1n the fall we presented our class play ent1tled Star Crazy Before m1d year we lost Ke1th Murry and shortly after lost Newton Redmond cuttmg our class roll to twelve We ordered our class rmgs expectmg to rece1ve them at the start of the following school term In the sprlng Bonn1e Burke left us In May we enterta1ned the Semors at the annual Jumor Semor Ban quet wh1ch was held at the MEthOd1St church 1n Luther Newton Redmond and Robert Perkov1ch were our class pres1dents th1s year Entermg our f1nal year of school found ten happy and proud students B111 W1secup fa1led to return th1s year B1ll IS do1ng h1s part for our country 1l'l the Navy On November 13 we had our graduatlon p1ctures taken at Woltz Studlos 1n Des Memes At the begmnmg of the second semester Velma Groomes entered our class By plannmg for a sen1or class play Commencement Baccalaureate Iumor Semor Banduet and many other act1v1t1es we w1ll end a wonderful four year h1gh school ourse here at Luther a thmg of wh1ch we are all very proud CLASS DROPHECY My! That was a pleasant tr1p and so short too just two hours ago I was ln Mars Now I m at an a1rport Hmmm wonder to what c1ty lt belongs The c1ty lS certamly large I d guess lt to be about well I d better not say I m1ght be wrong Guess I ll call a tax1 may as well stay h re for the nlght My tax1 lS on 1tS way now Brrrr! I asked myself Why I graduated from Luther in 46 but lt was Just a speck then Ten years Myl What a difference! I decided to look at the dr 1ver Nol It couldn t posslbly be Aren't you Raymond Konx and d1dn t you graduate from Luther 1n 46? I asked Yes I am ' he repl1ed and 1f my memory serves me rlght you were a member of that class too weren t you? 'Yes I replied How long have you been 1n the taxi busmess Ray? 'Oh I started this busmess unmediately after graduatlon, ' he sa1d 'I don't suppose you have seen any of the other 46 er s have you? I mqu1red 'Yes Ive seen Lloyd Erlckson ' he answered 'I-Ie's the manager o the Lughertan Hotel best hotel in the c1ty You m1ght see h1m Gee thanks I muttered very gratefully Looks llke the Luther Hotel rlght ahead ' Right o remarked Ray Paylng Ray and thankmg h1m aga1n I proceeded to the hotel lobby After lookmg the lobby over I decided it was the most beautiful lobby I had ever seen Walkmg toward the reg1ster desk I saw Lloyd and there was a lady s1tt1ng beside hlm I talked to him a few rnlnutes and he 1ntro duced the lady to me It was his wlfe I learned FIVE years after gradu at1on he had marrled a g1rl from Brooklyn Myllll Qhe certamly was pretty Qince lt was too early too retire I shall do a blt of walking But f1rst I w1ll unpack my luggage Whewl That s done and I m finally on my spree of walkmg Oh!
