FOOTBALL DEVILS: DEDICATION, DETERMINATION, AND DEVOTION The Ironwood Red Devils Varsity team displayed determination, but fell short of overall goals this season. The record for the 87-88 year was 3 wins and 6 losses. In the ABC Conference, they earned a 0-5 record. Although the season was a little disappointing, it was a good learning experience for the players. Despite the fact that, “The Devils were a junior dominated team,” as quoted from Coach Miklesh, a number of seniors were noted for their outstanding abilities. Jim Miklish was named 1st team all conference Defensive halfback. First Team All Conference Offensive End was given to Darin Laabs. The four Seniors who received Honorable Mention includes Greg Hamberg (linebacker) and Troy Puisto (noseguard) for Defense along with Mike Rubatt (running back) and Jay Vaughn (flanker) for offense. We’re proud of the varsity team members and their accomplishments with the help of Brad Benton, a sophomore, who contributed his remarkable talent throughout the season. As we say good-bye to the graduating seniors, we must also say farewell to Coach Miklesh. We congratulate him in all his years of coaching the Red Devils and his ability to produce a strong returning squad for first-year Varsity Coach, Dave Davis.
