Tabacchi The 1972 Hematite is dedicated to Miss Zera Tabacchi, its advisor. Taking charge of tne Hematite from a past faculty member in 1958, Miss Tabacchi has proved to be a valuable aid in the production process of the yearbook. Miss Tabacchi is a French teacher who does much traveling abroad. Away from her classes and the school in general, Miss Tabacchi is active in Theater North productions, of which she is chairman. She is a member of the Range Artists Association, President of the Gamma Delta Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa of Ironwood, past President of the Ironwood Chapter of the American Association of the University Women, and she also belongs to the American Legion Post. Her hobbies include the Little Theater, needlework, traveling, art, piano, crafts, writing, and hiking. 4 For her understanding and for her many helpful years, we dedicate this book to her. We, the editors, feel that our ’people have made this school special. We would like to present this final documentationof the 1971-1972 year to our reader. Enjoy it! i r cLcu- Board of Education SEATED: R.R. Rohde, Supt.; D. Hjalmquist, Pres.; A. Nelson, Sec.; STANDING: E.I. Reini; L.J. Miklesh; R,J. Kleimola. Treas.; E. Foss, Pres. - Pro-Tern.; R. Lynn; B.E, Larson, Att. Members of the Board of Education are elected by school voters for four year terms. The Board of Education is responsible for determination of school policy and approval of staff members to be employed, courses to be taught, and instructional materials to be used. It is at this time that we would like to thank the board members for their interest and devoted efforts for the benefit of the students of the Ironwood Area School District. RICHARD R. RHODE Superintendent of Schools: Principal's Message I want to extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the graduating class of 1972. It is my hope that in the four years spent at Luther L. Wright High School, every student has gained much knowledge about himself, the world around him, and his responsibility to others. The world in which we live is becoming more mechanized and impersonalized. It is necessary that we, as people, continually strive to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with others. I am confident that the class of 1972 will work toward this ideal. (7T 8 William T. Hyry Principal ERIC KETTULA . . . B.A. and M.A. from University of Michigan and Michigan State University . . . You knew the necessity of a good education in today's complex world and you worked to attain that education. Congratulations should also be given to the people of the Ironwood Area School District for recognizing the value of a good education for their young people. May you, too, be eager to provide the proper education for coming generations as you take your place in the adult world. My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there. eg j - BT ■ CHARLES F.
