Johnson; David Hjalmquist, Treasurer; Edward Foss; James Cricks; Bernard Larson, Attorney. Members of the Board of Education are elected by school voters for four year terms. The Board of Education is responsible for determination of school policy and approval of staff members to be employed, courses to be taught, and instructional materials to be used. We, the class of 1970, dedicate this Hematitie to Miss Rosa Pape, who retired in the fall of 1969 after thirty-four years of teaching. Miss Pape has been teaching in the commercial department of L. L. Wright. Her subjects have ranged om typing, shorthand, office machines, business English, office practice to world history and geography. She has always had a Home Room and taken a personal interest in its members. From 1959 to 1968 Miss Pape has acted as advisor of our school paper, working diligently to help make our paper interesting and informative. She has, in the past, also directed the Senior Class Play. Miss Pape has stressed responsibility and thoroughness as worthy and attainable qualities. Miss Pape attended Central Missouri State College, where she received her Bachelor of Science de- gree, and Columbia University, where she received her Master of Science degree. She has also done graduate work at the University of Colorado. Miss Pape majored in social sciences and commercial courses. Her activities have extended into community life. She has been a member of the Junior Woman's Club for fifteen years. Her favorite pastime being bridge, she is a long-time member of the Range Duplicate Bridge Club. Miss Pape, who was born in Missouri, came to Ironwood in 1944. She has made Ironwood her permanent home. In summers she returns to Missouri to visit her family and relatives. Because of her devotion and dedication to L. L. Wright and its students and to the welfare of the community, we dedicate this book to Miss Rosa Pape. 4
