Habits of economy of time, labor and money are taught in the application of these principles in the production of good recipes and in the serving of them. For instruction in furnishing and care of the home there is a living room, bedroom and bathroom, which are simple and attractive. In the basement is a laundry where the laundry work of the average household is done. This work begins in the fifth grade and is continued through the twelfth, and is presented is simple ccncrete form in correlation with other subjects. Fifth and sixth grade, work includes work in darning, mending, handsewing and simple garment making; seventh and eighth grades, elementary cooking, invalid cooking, and housekeeping; ninth and tenth grades, machine sewing, drafting, and designing patterns, the cutting of undergarments. waists, and dresses; laundry work is also given in the ninth grade. The work of the eleventh and twelfth grades includes advanced cooking and the planning and serving of meals, in which each girl acts in the capacity of host, hostess, waitress and cook. 24
