Last Will and Testament We, the Class of 1959, of the Luther Jackson High School, Merrifield, State of Virginia, in forty-nine individuals and distinct parts, being about to pass out of this sphere of education, in full possession of a crammed mind, well trained memory, and almost superhuman understanding, do make and publish this, our last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills or promises by us at any time heretofore made, or mayhap, carelessly spoken, one to the other as a thoughtless wish of an idle hour. As to such estate as it has pleased the Fate and our own strong hands and brains to win for us, we do dispose of the same as follows: We give and bequeath to our beloved principal, Mr. T. M. Williams, our sincere affection, our deepest reverence, and, heartiest gratitude, and the whole and limited wealth of our eternal memory. In an attempt at partial payment for all that he has done for us during our long years at Luther Jackson, we make over to him here and now a heavy mortgage on our future in the great unknown beyond. We give and bequeath to Luther Jackson High, as a whole, the dear old School Spirit that has led us upward and forward to perfection. This Spirit is to become the possession of this school on condition that it shall be ever kept in constant use and be inoculated and instilled in the hearts and minds of every new member. We give and bequeath to our beloved faculty all the amazing knowled ge and startling information that we have furnished them from time to time in our various examinations. If the faculty sees fit, they are hereby authorized to give out such of this information to the world as they may feel the world is ready to receive. To our beloved homeroom teacher, Mr. Lawson, the profound admiration and ever enduring friendship of the class of 1958-59. Geneva Metcalf and Claudia Gaskins leave their ability to sing to Dianne Mercer and Jean Smith. Albert Brown leaves his oratorical ability to Robert Wright. Paul Sheppard, Lynwood Hyden, Robert Duncan, Franklin Bush, Albert Brown, and Tracy Newman leave their football abilities to the team of 1960. Richard Wall leaves his drum major skill to Robert Brent. Bertha Thornton leaves her doughnut salesmanship to Mildred Chapman. Earnestine Williams leaves her N. H. A. district office to Doris Johnson. Jervy Barnes leaves his quietness to Haney Pearson. To Elaina Taylor we leave the shyness of Rosalind Carter. Alvin Thomas leaves his Math ability to Leonard Lee. Norcie Grooms leaves her weight to the slimmest girl in the class of 1961. Ludlow Adams leaves his height to any short soul who desires to be tall. Lydia Lewis leaves her Spanish ability to Saundra Callahan. Gladys Ford leaves her dancing ability to Veronica Jones. Bessie Minnefield leaves her business ability to Jasper Steward. John Brown leaves his ability to deer hunt to Preston Blackwell. Jean Carr leaves her pleasing personality to Billie Wells. Harold Thomas and William Ellis leave their barbering abilities to George Smith and Thomas Mercer. In witness whereof, We, the Class of 1959, the testators, have to this our will, written on one sheet of parchment, set our hands and seal this fifth day of June, Anno Domini, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine.
