A MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT It is my great pleasure to extend to you congratulations upon your graduation. I express the sentiments of the faculty, students, and alumni of Luther H. Foster High School. We have done the best we can to prepare you for this great day, so that when you go out into the world, you will be able to take your places as capable, efficient, and thoughtful workers in the various fields which you have chosen. Your challenges will be the greatest ever faced by any generation; your opportuni¬ ties will be on a wider scale and a higher level than have been granted to a graduating class of Luther H. Foster High School. I hope that you will recognize them when they come, and that you will realize that they are given to you, not only for your selfish ends, but in order you might help others. You are taking your places in the world at a time when there is intellectual, religious and moral ferment. You will have to find your way in a complicated but great civilization, and under institutions of freedom, the most perfect the world has ever known. We trust that the training which you have received here will enable you to appreciate your unusual opportunities and will make you sensitive to your obligations to your fellow man. We believe that true success in life will come to those who are most persistent, who work in the truest spirit, and who are even willing to go the second mile. A. B. Cousins Principal 8

IN TRIB UTE It is with a deep feeling of gratitude that we, the Senior class of 1968, give tribute to one who has worked so faithfully for Foster High School. It is he, Mr. William L. Carter, who has strived relentlessly to teach the students in their effort to learn. He has skillfully guided us and carefully advised us over the years. In essence, he has tried to the best of his ability to prepare us for tomorrows world of challenge. Mr. Carter is loved and admired by many. To us, he is a martyr symbolizing true dedication to the teaching profession. Therefore, to him we are honored to pay special tribute. 10
