CLASS HISTORY In September 1960, 120 awe-struck, but enthusiastic eighth graders began a long, sometimes wearisome struggle toward a goal, which at that time seemed as lofty as the stars. Although we were new, several of us represented Luther Foster very well. William Bass, III won first place in a talent contest; Rose Jones, Emma Jones and Anna Fowlkes won in the District Math-Science Conference and Kenneth Woodson won in a District Public Speaking Contest. Calvin Wilson and Garnette Christopher made the All State Choir. v In September 1961, we returned to Dear Old Foster. Those who continued to excel were William Bass, III, talent; Calvin Wilson, Garnette Christopher, Choir; Kenneth Woodson, N.F.A. We also participated in the Athletic Activities. In our Sophomore year we participated in the Math-Science Confer¬ ence, N.F.A., SPA, Choir, Athletics and Industrial Arts. Then came our most exciting year, the Junior year. That year twelve of us were initiated into the Elite Chapter of the National Honor Society and Jacqueline Tucker was crowned Miss Foster, of that we were very proud. We also presented a talent show, Top Talent of the Year which was very successful. The Prom we gave the class of 64 was centered around the Rain¬ bow. Indeed it was a gala affair. At intermission Sarah Marshall was crowned Queen of the Prom. Several juniors were on the first team of the 1964 Second Place Championship Baseball Team. We have now reached the zenith of our high school career. We shall let this year speak for itself. We realize that without the guidance, inspiration, and belief of you, our parents and faculty, these accom¬ plishments would have been impossible. As we approach the end of the beginning we realize that the years have gone by so rapidly. We the Seniors of 1965 are leaving dear old Foster, we hope that in our passing we have achieved something of value.
