The man is clothed in birchbark, small birds cling to his and one builds a nest in his ear. The clamor of bedlam infests his hair, a winc' blowing in his head shakes down a thought that turns to moss and lichen at his feet. His eyes are blind with April, his breath distilled of butterflies and bees, and in his beard the maggot sings. He comes again with litter of chips and empty cans, his shoes full of mud a an army of shedding dogs attends him, the valley shudders where he stands, redolent of roses, exalted in the streaming rain. Nearly a month of concerts and sightseeing in six countries was the itinerary for the concert band as they delighted the folk of Europe with their music. Highlights of the trip were ca concert played before Crown Prince Harald of Norway, cm appearance in the Bergan Festival, an overnight stay at Holthorpe Hall, a recording session in Trivoli Gardens, Copenha- gen, a concert played in the Mozarteum in the Alps, and endless border crossings to get behind the Iron Curtain to Czechoslovakia and an exchange concert there with a high school chorus singing their native folk songs. Verbal communication on the tour might have been limited by the language barrier, but music seemed to be the language everyone understood. Travel, dining, and music all added up to a tour our world famous concert band will long remember. A 4 S 4 1 if lilllll H -- f--q f .1 Q .xl-. K-a..-.
