J. --...-...ii Telescope - - - The Allison Telescope was presented to Luther College during the year i946-47 by Mr. W. J. Allison, Regina, Saskatchewan, and family in memory of a beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Jeannette Strang Allison. The desire motivating the gift is that the students of Luther College and their friends may learn more about the Kingdom of God in that particularly interesting domain known as Astronomy. It is being planned that the telescope shall be available to the students of Luther College during the regular periods of study for observation of the sun and during the evenings, in extra curricular oppor- tunity, for the study of the moon, the planets and the fixed stars. A special committee, consisting of Principal Schneider and Messrs. Liefeld, Carson and Pyke, will be in charge of the equipment and the use of the telescope during the term I947-48. The telescope is SV2 refractor built by Messrs. Grubb and Co., England, and is being fully equipped and housed for con- venient use in popular observations in Astronomical Science. -19.-
