Academic courses serve as a college preparatory guide and enable the student to meet college entrance requirements. Vocational courses prepare one for a job upon graduation from Burbank. In the homemaking department students are taught to run a home efficiently and be- come a successful homemaker by actually participating in work which would be done about the house of a homemaker. Auto-mechanics tends to teach the working parts of the car, while body 84 paint shop concentrates on the exterior of a car. Burbank's architectural drafting program trains students to become skilled architects or draftsmen. This department is said to be one of the best developed programs in South Texas. The radio 8: electric shop at Burbank trains students by allowing them to work on small radio 8: electric material brought to the school by patrons of the community. Carpentry students learn skills of building trade in their work at Burbank. Upon graduation, the student is skilled enough to be employed at a lumber company or con- struction company.
