Be- ing a licensed civil engineer in Texas, he retired to give all of his time to the school board. He was appointed president of the board May, 1955. 15 nv-ef' .,.....-ani Mrs. Olidene McDermand, Bur- bank's new counselor of students, joined the school faculty in the fall of September, 1943. She taught as an instructor of business ad- ministration until the Fall of 1958 when she was called upon to serve as an administrator in the capacity of school counselor. Mrs. McDermand obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Texas State Teachers College and her Master's from the University of Texas. Adding experience to her teaching profession, she has taught at Southwest Texas, San Antonio College and Trinity Uni- versity.

She has worked diligently since accepting the position in 1948. Mrs. Camile Patterson, fbelowj secretary and receptionist to Mr. Her- man Vetter, Miss Mary Alice Noonan, and Mrs. Olidene McDermand, is in charge of permanent records, handles all typing, filing, and transcripts in the deans' offices.
