,g 'VD- Tho Lost m Srqht In Mem ry Dear Thou ever wilt Hemam George Lmley On December 21 1956 the life of a wonderful friend and employee came to an end Leavmg fr1ends among our faculty and student body Mr Walter E Becker depart ed to meet his Maker after eighteen years of faithful service to Burbank High School as head janitor H1s 1ob was to supervise the yanrtonal staff but he went further than this There Were IDCIIIY fhU1gS d0I1e by Mr Becker that the student body nor faculty ever really thought about At tlmes when the weather was unpleasant he came on to school as early as l o clock to heat the building before classes started There were times when students forgot things here at school and Mr Becker was called to come and open the doors so the objects could be obtalned He tried to make the environments as pleas ant for the students as for the faculty ln order to make every day living at home as well as tn school easter for every that proved itself useful in making a job easier he passed this information on to as many persons as he could He was a lover of good jokes remembered them and passed them on laughing heartily as he repeated them He was always seeking to lift the downhearted and dis- couraged as he met them Hrs patience andfnendlmess seemed endless even on to death Yet with all he was diligent and long suffering proud of our democracy observ mg and enyoyrng people whereever he went People to him were all equal no matter the race color creed or position in this world And of this people were aware To them he was the rainbow after a storm a cool dnnk after thirst all in all THE personalrty at B H S Many passages and stones found ln the Bible remind us of the man we knew as Mr Becker he was a real paradox a person who attended church rather little yet lived a good life and taught tolerance and consideration for all Many wept over his departure from this world but yet in the1r sorrow welcomed an end to his sufferings He was a wonderful cheerful and great person to all Burbankers There 1S but one condolance to our sorrows as the Blble ays The Lord giveth and the Lord take- th away 27 ?
