Business For students who plan to make the world of business a career, our business department offers excellent courses to aid the future business men and women on their way to suc- cess. Burbank has courses in shorthand, typing, office prac- tice, D. E., and bookkeeping open to assist students interested in this field of work. Dean, David N. Dulin, Iames If a business career is in mind this education in business while in high school will prove worth-while. Instead of having to pay to get this training at business college students here are fortunate enough to obtain it without any charge. Even if a business career does not fit into the future of a Burbanker's life these courses prove to be a great asset. Later on in life when it becomes necessary to go out into the world to work for a living, office work will prove valuable. Positions in the business world will pay well, if the person applying for the iob offered has adequate training. Students either taking a business course or having com- pleted their business training have the opportunity of entering the Business Club which is sponsored by Mrs. Olidene Mc- Dermand. Field trips are made by sponsor and members to different business establishments in the city. ln this way mem- bers are given the chance to see what goes on in the world of business. The arousing of interest in the business world and ambition for advancement is the main object of this or- ganization. Elmore, E. L. Fairbanks, Elaine Franz, Ted R. Z

The Future Homemal-:ers of America organization at Burbank High School is sponsored by Miss Darrow. Members must have taken home making I, at least, to be able to join this club. During the year the girls hold cake sales, cooking contests and many more activities. Homemaking Department Miss Shirley Darrow and Mrs. Millie Moran this year teach homemaking at Burbank High. Miss Darrow heads the depart- ment for future homemakers. Homemaking courses start from the beginners homemaking I to the advanced course of home economics VIII. During the summer vacations this course is offered as a project and extra credits may be gained. Most of the knowledge gained in this course is accomplished through experience. Like most classes The more you put into your work, the more you will get from it in return. Cooking and sewing are the main topics for work. Meals are planned according to budgets, menues and diets. The student has assigned jobs when laboratory days come along. For sewing most girls make blouses, skirts, dresses and even formal gowns. Some of the boys taking this course have come out with new shirts and with the ability to cook a good meal for themselves. Koehler Arthur A Latham, Louise Lucas, William H. McChesney, William Mc Dermand Olidene
