CLASS S This is the Tie of the shoe which the students tie each morning before coming to school .... The Sole of the shoe which takes you places, both happy and sad, is as the soul of the student which carries him along through life .... The Top of the shoe, is the protection which we have received from our principal, faculty and teachers who all have meant so much to us .... The Tongue is the means of expressing one's thoughts . . . The tongue which can be soft and then again at times be harsh and rude .... The Toe of the shoe which can mean balance, though sometimes it stumbles ..,. lt protects the little hurts which, often come through the passing of the years .... The Heel gives you posture that will make you rise to higher and better standards .... The shoe ........ though it is worn and scarred, the tie still remains ........ through the memories of our school and fellow friends . . . . . . . . the Tie remains forever . . . . Charles Rouse started the scor- ing by returning a punt 30 yards to the Lanier 3 yard line and then scoring on the next play. Earl Condra scored the next TD with a 10 yard run. lt seemed as if everybody on the Bulldog team was going to score as Garland Becker scored from 28 yards out. The next touchdown came when Burbank fumbled with Lanier recovering. On the first play Lanier passed but speedy little Russel Duffy inter- cepted and returned it for a 69 yard touchdown. The last touch- down of the game came with Jerry Smith going 3 yards for the touchdown. Lanier never got past the Burbank 30 yard line. Two plays later, the Bears fumbled with Horlen recovering for Burbank on the Bear 17. But again Burbank's threat ended because ofa fumble on the Bear 'l'l. Special Events Dances, Parties, Carnivals, and Assemblies, these are the ties that bind the students in social and recreational activities. Ties formed in associating with each other at these school sponsored events will provide fond memories tor each ot us . . . today, tomorrow, and forever. lt is through these events our teachers and par- ents become a part of our social life as they join in wholeheartedly with the spirit of fun and co- operation. With the guarantee of their help,, the dullest activity can become a source of fun and enjoyment. It is here at the Dances, Carnivals, Parties, and Assemblies we find one of our strongest ties, that of association with home, school, and faculty, all combined together for a gay, spirited form of un- forgettable entertainment. 5 fs-2 1 Vx f 1 5 W2 1 . . 75: 5222 if xl 'Q , V, , 'i t Burbank Upper leff: Burbank majoretfes, Janice Welch, Myrna Slendebach, Delores Bowman and Lenora Turner do a routine at fhe kick-off as- sembly. The Tie that connects the school with the world of men and women that have offices, business houses, and service selling establishments. Through the combined efforts of students, fac- ulty, and our friends in the business world we are able to give you this annual record of the classes, activities, and members of the faculty. Our Ties with the business world are extended as many of the students find a place with them in the afternoon and after school as part-time em- ployees. This relationship is one that is not only educational, but beneficial to the students as they make friends with the men and women that make up the backbone of our city . . .the business people of San Antonio.
