Baccalaureate and Commencement Baccalaureate services were held at the Lutesville High School gymnasium Sunday, May 14, at 8 p. m. The school band played the processional and Rev. H. H. Murdick gave the Invocation. The Choir sang Com- mit Thy Ways and Let all Things Now Living. Rev. Marvin Hester read the scrip- ture and Carole L. Hahn sang the Holy City. Rev. Manuel V. Shoults gave the Baccalaureate sermon and a girl's trio sang the Lord's Prayer. Rev. Sylvan Poet gave the Benediction and the band played the reces- sional march. Commencement exercises were held Wednesday night at 8 p. m. with 49 Seniors receiving their diplomas. The group marched in as the band play- ed the Pomp and Circumstance March. ” Rev. Verdell Jackson gave the Invocation and the girl's trio sang Within a Dreaming Harbor and The Best Things in Life are Free. Webster Wells, school principal, presented awards to the Honor Students. Carole L. Hahn sang a solo Elergy” which was followed by an address by Fred L. Cole, District Supervisor of Public Schools. The choir sang Jacob's Ladder and Jonah Swal- lowed the Whale! The diplomas were presented by the president of the school board, J. D. Chandler. Rev. H. H. Mur- dick pronounced the benediction. The group immediately left for a 10 day tour which took them to Washington, D. C., New York City, Niagara Falls, Canada, Detroit and other places of interest.
