For the fifth straight year, the 1oca1Tig1eESoftba11ers were successful in winning the Eastem Wyoming Invitational ournament. Under fine Coaching leadership of Floyd Hart the green but eager and vrilllng squad went to work, and after a few seasonal defeats came throug the toumarnent with three straight wins for their fifth strai ht championship, winning the champion- ship game fromWheatland, eteam that had defeated Sie locals twice during the regular season. Larson, The Lusk cinder squad went places this year, placing in practically every meet they entered with good times especially in the mile and longer races. Although weak in field events, the locals did gather numerous points in the pole vault and discus. Althoutglli a space shortalge keeps us from printing each individual player and his winnings, following is results of the isuict and State Clas A' Meet: District Meet: Reckling first in mile, Smith fifth in mile and third lnhalf-mile, Foley second in 220 and third in 10 , Langdon tie for second and third in pole vault. Culver and Stur- tevant tie with two others for fourth and fifth in high jump, Foley fourthin shot put, Foley fourth in discus and Sturtevant fifth, Stetson third in quarter mile, Fernau fourth in quarter mile, and half-mile relay team fourth. State Meet: Reckljrigirfifth in mile, Smith fourth inhalf mile, Foley fourth in220yard dash, and Langdon tie for d, fourth, and fifth i.n pole vault.

Under the Coaching of Earl O'Del1, boxing was started this year at Lusk for the first time since before World War Il. Once a popular sport at Lusk, boxing gradually died out until it was a thing of the past. This year it was again started mostly as an inter-school sport to give in- terested boys a knowledge of the correct techniques and methods. Coach O'Dell and Student Manager ,McFarlane took a squad of three boxers to Sundance near the close of school. There two of the Lusk boys took definite decisions over Sundance fighters while the other Lusk boxer was over-powered by a Deadwood veteran. RESULTS: Pat Vollrner definite decision over 24 year-old lack Newman of Sundance in three rounder. Dick Carlisle decision over Johnny Stahl of Sundance in three rounder. John DeGering defeated fdecisionj by veteran fighter Bill Iones of Deadwood.
