THE LEGEND OF ARGUS lo, the divine goddess of Greek mythology, being imprisoned by the great god Juno, was to be forever watched by ARGUS, the god of a hundred eyes. Because of the hyp- notic singing of Mercury, Io's lib- erator, ARGUS was made to close all his eyes at once. Immediately, Io won her free- dom and ARGUS was slain. Because of her gratitude for the gentleness and kindness of ARGUS, Io took his eyes and scattered them as orna- ments on the tail of her beautiful peacock, where they remain to this day. Dedication Mrs. H. B. Forester In this, the Tenth Anniversary Edition of the Argus, we reflect upon those whose dedication made the Argus possible. One who stands out above all others is Mrs. Forester. Her faithfulness to her profession as a teacher, her loyalty to the standards of her school at all times, and her unbounded enthusiasm for promoting all things of worth at L. C. H. S., have resulted in the inspiration of scores of students to go from our school making more than worthwhile contributions to our community. Mrs. Forester's initiative and energetic devotion in her 23 years of teaching in our school have made pos- sible such projects as a trophy-winning Girls' Basketball team, the F. B. L. A. Club, and our own Argus. With respect and deep appreciation, we dedicate this Tenth Edition Argus to Mrs. Forester, who brought life to the Argus by HER dedication of nine years. — Administration MR. E. G. JARRARD, Superintendent We, the Seniors, are soon to leave L. C. H. S. The satisfaction of a gratifying experience here has been largely due to you and your co-workers. We offer our appreciation for your part in making our school days successful. Board of Education STANDING: Gordon Anderson, F. L. Corbin, Walter Caldwell.
