Education has an obligation to truth in it- self and for its own sake. People have the right to seek, defend, and make human use of education. The training of the body and spirit demands unremitting insistence upon moral ideals and spiritual values of love, honor, self-respect, kindness, gentleness, sympathy, honesty, responsibility, humil- ity and integrity, The educated person will insist upon these values, Education has the responsibility of devel- oping proper attitudes toward work, Work should be sought, enjoyed, and respected rather than avoided, suffered, and despised. when educational values can be derived, students should be encouraged to contribute to the social dividend by improving and safeguarding their school. A proper atti- tude toward work is a mark of the well ed- ucated person. This has been a pleasant and productive year for all of us. Ihope this school year in Lufkin High School will live pleasantly in your memories. God bless and keep you. Ben B. Harris Principal
