The hours of these days call for hard, sincere work, for a toughening of every fibre, and for a constant alert to meet the challenges for personal sacrifice and service. II Time marches with the Infinite. The eternal That every hour now may-be a treasured heritage against the days of greater opportunity is my wish for every student. That in every way this school may be an instrument in securing for you a better pattern for your living in those days, is our greatest hope. Geo. H. Wells, Superintendent 11,644 TO THE STUDENTS OF LUFKIN HIGH SCHOOL It is my sincere hope that as you wander back through memory lane by scanning through the pages of the FANG that you can say days here were not spent in vain and that the achievements and experiences of your high school days contribute materially toward noble Christian character and true American citizenship. Although we had a late start and were confronted with wartime shortages and restrictions, we have endeavored to give you a permanent record of a pleasant school year. The staff Joins me in expressing our appreciation and thanks to the people who have made possible the publishing of this annual. Our advertisers have given necessary financial support in spite of the war. It is now up to the students of Lufkin High School to show their appreciation by their supporting the businessmen of Lufkin. To the student body and faculty we express our thanks for their interest and cooperation. Above all we wish to express our appreciation to Mr. W. C. Royle for his interest and encouragement which have made the annual possible. It has been a great privilege to be the editor of the FANG. With the long hours of work have been mingled pleasures that will not soon be forgotten. And to those like myself who are leaving Lufkin High this year, I wish you the best of luck. M4 BENNY LOWRY EDITOR IN APPRECIATION 5 'O . As the school year 1943-44 comes to a close, and the yearbook HFangN comes to an end, the Staff finds it very fitting to make note of the splendid work done by Miss Beryl Boozer, our sponsor. In 1941, Miss Boozer took on the sponsorship of the high school yearbook and, due to her guidance, advice, and leadership, the annual for that year was a great success. This year, as before, Miss Boozer has shared the hardships and headaches, as well as pleasures along with the Staff in completing the 1944 HFang.H Lufkin High School joins with the Staff in saying, from the bottom of our hearts, that we, truly, appreciate her efforts. 11 1- 1 15' I. -1.
