FOREWORD The 1910 Blue Tide is a students view of a year that has become only a memory. The year 1970 will rapidly become almost indistinguishable from all that have gone before and will follow; but as time erases, this book will preserve the year as the students saw it at Ludowici High School. What began in the hot days of the month of August 1969, has now become a full cycle with the line of commencement in June, 1970. The first reunion of old friends soon ended with demanding assignments. Every day the school inhaled and exhaled a swarm of students. In the classroom as well as on the court, students met victory and defeat. As a group, we huddled together to face the new opportunities of tomorrow. As individuals, we kept our goals set high and plodded on to the future. For some this was a first year of initiation; for others a last year of preparation. 1969-70 was a game ... teachers... friends ... the past ... hope ... fear ... a memory ... pointing on toward the future. The use of horoscopes in the book are intended for looks into the future and the 1969-70 Blue Tide will be a record of the past. BLUE TIDE 1970 Ludowici High School Ludowici, Ga. AQUARIUS Jan. 20-Feb. 18 Of all people you are the most unselfish. You always aim for the highest in human harmony, and any- thing less causes you unhappinessYou like to have a useful hobby. You are always miles ahead of others in new thoughts and original approaches to problems. You are always willing to accept new designs for living. PISCES Feb. 19-March 20 Pisces are noted for their sympathetic qualities, but because discrimination is not your strong point, you have a tendency to spread yourself too thin. Y ou are a highly emotional person and very sensual. Y ou step with confidence and are seldom bothered by feelings of inferiority. TAURUS April 21-May 20 You are the strong type of person who always has both feet on the ground and knows where he is going. You are patient and will work for anything you happen to want. You are slow, steady, practical and reserved. GEMINI May 21-June 20 This is an intellectual sign, you are moti- vated by your mind and thoughts rather than your senses. You are ambitious and sensitive. Y ou have an active mind, quick perception and no trouble remembering things. Being inquisitive and wanting to know, you are always on the lookout for fresh ideas and information. LEO You are independent and forceful, with a great deal of self-assurance. You have a keen sense of stability and preservation. You are kindhearted, and outspoken when you have the opportunity to be. Y ou are best suited to work where you have sole authority. The keynote to your character is practicality. You are painstaking thorough. For any situation, your first thought is for the sensible and rational thing. VIRGO Aug. 22-Sept. 22 LIBRA Sept. 23 -Oct. 22 Your outstanding characteristics are love of harmony, justice, and sympathy for pain or suffering. Your keenest instincts are to weigh measure and balance situations. You seldom do anything without due regard for the conse- quences. You have a talent for getting along with people, because you are affable, courteous, and rarely guilty of wanting to injure others. SCORPIO Oct. 23 -Nov. 22 You are an extremist in every way. Of all the types, you are the most dominant, ruthless, self-willed, and autocratic. You have a strong personality, although you may be disliked, you are never ignored. You understand life, its difficulties and problems. Your wits are sharp, and you generally remain calm, and forceful under stress. SAGITTARIUS Nov. 23-Dec. 20 Your intellect is of a very high standard and your outlook is mature, farseeing, imaginative- ly and practical. You are broadminded, tolerant, humorous and truthful. You lead an active out-of-doors life. Your sense of justice is one of your greatest assets. The spirit of fun is strong in your nature, so that sometimes it is difficult for others to tell if you are merely joking or teasing. You are ambitious, strong-willed and definite in purpose. You are constantly seek- ing perfection. Your outstanding character- istics are loyalty to anyone and anything you consider worthy of it, and devotion to whatever you take on. You have a fine mind - slow but capable of deep concentration. We dedicate the 1970 Blue Tide Yearbook to a person who weil-deserves it. During the time she has been at LHS she has worked diligently for our school during these past years. As sponsor of BlueTide Yearbook she has devoted much time and work and we sincerely give our appreciation. As a teacher and librarian of our school her services have been great asking little in return. This person has always shown sterling character, a willingness to help in any way, and has done much for the betterment of our student body. We, the Blue Tide Staff of 1970, proudly dedicate our yearbook to a deserving person. MRS. ELIZABETH BRANNEN ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. Mallie Golden; Mr. Hart Blocker; Mr. Frank Coleman; Mrs. Lillie Mae Harrison; Mr. J . A . Reddish. Many of these moments which we shall forever treasure, will be relieved each time we open this yearbook. This school year has brought us many problems, which I hope we can all look back on and say, We did our best. To the Seniors of 1970, I wish to congratulate you on the completion of your work here at Ludowici High School. It has been a difficult year for all of us but I do want to thank all of you for the cooperation and the leadership that you have provided. May God bless all of you with the best of everything in the future. William H. Odum MR. WILLIAM H. ODUM Principal MR. BLAKELY THORNTON Assistant Principal MRS. MARGARET PARKER Secretary MRS.
