SKI TEAM This year’s ski team did very well finishing in fourth place in seven out of eight meets, and it also managed to place third in one meet. Coach Matt Conet will be graduat- ing 6 out of his 8 team members this year. The loss of senior Scott Tier- ney, who managed to make the C- division all star team, will be espe- cailly hard on next year’s team. WEIGHT ‘TIL NEXT YEAR A lack of participation plagued the 1985-86 Ludlow High wrestling team. There were only 9 wrestlers on the team, making it virtually impossi- ble for the team to win a meet. De- spite this fact, there were many bright spots, most notably the per- formances of senior captain Paul Kir- kitelos. Paul was 11-2 with 9 pins in the regular season, ranking him sec- ond in Western Mass. for the 132 pound weight class. He placed fourth in the state tournament. This aie. = Classi¢ah Cathedral Tech. Putnam f= was the culmination of an excellent high school career for Paul. There were other quality under- “ ey , classmen wrestlers on the team who performed well above average dur- ing the season, including Lance Hol- man, who enjoyed an outstanding season until it was abruptly ended when he broke his thumb. Lance was seeded second in the Western Mass. tournament at the 170 pound mark. Regardless of these setbacks, coaches Dale and Craig McCarl re- mained devoted towards the goal of keeping the Ludlow High wrestling program alive. ?
