To make the fresh- men feel more comfortable, the ju- niors performed various songs and a humorous skit. To end the activities, a dance was held that night for the participating juniors and their little brothers and sisters. Refreshments and music were provided. After this welcome the freshmen were anx- iously awaiting their next event to- gether at Ludlow High. 47 48 Booster Day Dance On Friday September 30, 1983, the Senior Class sponsored the fall Booster Day. That afternoon, the cheerleaders put on a spectacu- lar pep-rally for the fall sports teams. The rally was highlighted by a slide presentation of the athletes and dancing by the cheer- leaders. That evening following the tradition- al burning of a dummy, “Not Fragile” pro- vided the crowd with great music. enner £04 7 weet £ e Freshman Harvest Party The Freshmen Harvest Party was the first event for the freshmen as a class. Dancing and a horror movie provided the freshmen with a unique form of entertainment. Re- freshments were served and all who attended enjoyed this festive event. 49 The Senior Masquerade Brigade October 28, 1983 was the date of the Senior Halloween party entitled “The Senior Masquerade Brigade’. The imagination of the people who attend- ed was reflected in their costumes. To- wards the end of the night judges chose the best costumes and rewarded prizes. samcinisia cas amemiimenianed =r5 ‘ + 51 Football The Lions were definitely a team with character this year. Early in the season they were pla- gued with injuries to key players. Seniors Peter Mole and Jeff Rob- erts missed most of the season due to injuries in the Waconah game. Later in the season, seniors Eric Clewes and Mark Pariseau missed a great deal of playing time when they were injured. Still, the Lions regrouped and went on to bring winning football back to Ludlow finishing with six wins and four losses. Girls’ Basketball The girls’ basketball team, un- der Coach Phelon, shows a very deceiving record this year. This team, although only showing a .500 record for the season, played much better than .500 ball. The girls started out the season slowly losing their first four games. From that point the female Lions won three of their next four games, with the loss being a tough two point loss to Classical. The girls finished the season in fine fashion winning four of their last five games. When analyzing the season, one must consider the two losses by one basket and a heart- breaking three point loss. The team lost their first three matches only to win their next two. The Lions then fell three more times before coming back to win two more consecutive match- es. The roller coaster type season left the Lions with a disappoint- ing ending where they lost their last two matches during a down- ward trend.
