The Nation of Emily Dickinson’s poem is the individual; yet the world is made up of many nations, and the group is made of many individuals. Our class has shown through four years of high school together an “individualized unity”: The individual is im- portant to the group just as the group is important in itself. Thus, the spirit of the Class of 1967 is basically the unity of individuals. nn

“This is how I feel: The honor given me by the class is the greatest thing that has ever happened, and it will be a long time before I'll be so pleased or gratified.” Rather, Mr. Linehan, the honor is ours. And this book is ours, dedicated to you—to your awareness of the joys, problems, thoughts, and dreams of us, your students; we would someday like to consider ourselves your friends. At Holy Cross, now his Alma Mater, Mr. Linehan majored in En- glish, his best subject. He was as active then—participating in de- bates, going to plays, writing for newspapers, and reading for en- joyment—as he is now—advising the Hi-News and Junior Class, presiding over the Ludlow Teachers’ Association, and teaching at L. H. S. But of all these activities, teaching means the most. Whether in the classroom, after school, or at any hour at home, he is eager to help any student. “A beautiful relationship” can exist when per- sonal contact with his students does not sacrifice his principles of teaching. You, as a student, have noticed him chaperoning at school func- tions, avidly attending plays and musical comedies, practicing his hobby of photography, or: rushing down the halls, tie flying, papers crinklng neatly in an uplifted hand, and to You a radi- ant hello.
