MISS IDA J. HUBBELL Supervisor of Art, Ludlow Public Schools IN TRIBUTE Imagination, originality, creativity—these are but a few of the qualities which the students of Ludlow High School have noted while they worked with and learned from MISS IDA J. HUBBELL. Almost all of us have had the benefit of her able instruction at one time or another—some of us only in junior high school and others throughout their high school careers. Her patient help with decorations for class dances, with preparations for the Junior Promenade, and with the production of the Ludlow Lion has been a vital contribution to the success of our class. How can “Thank you” ever express our true feeling of gratitude? However, we the class of 1961, are honored to pay tribute to MISS IDA HUBBELL and to express the hope that her life in retirement will be as rewarding as she has made ours in school!

FOREWORD “The world will little note nor long remember what we say here,” but we can never forget what we did here. That great event of one hundred years ago, the Civil War, has had a lasting effect upon the lives of all Americans. In like manner, the events of our high school years will have a lasting effect upon our lives. These years have served as a testing ground, a time of decision. Like our forefathers, we too have struggled to achieve a great goal. We have strengthened our union through four years of work, fun, and friendship. We can never relive these years in actuality, but we can nostalgicly recall the significant events which have made them four unique years in our lives. It is, therefore, the purpose of this, our 1961 Ludlow Lion, to preserve forever—and in Lincoln’s own apt phrases—those “mystic memories” of our high school careers.
