The four days of concerts, sight seeing, and shopping were immensely enjoyed by the 56 voice choir. their director. Irving Prescott, and three chaperones. This trip was looked forward to by the members from the moment it was suggested back in October until the day of departure. From that time on in October there was not a moment of quiet in Room l9, The big thing was money and the choir set about to earn 551,000.00 in any way possible This meant coat and hat check at the games, baked goods sale. apple sale. fudge sale, not to mention, pen sale and name stickers. There was also a big rummage sale last fall. All of these activities netted about half of the needed amount. The other half was gained through the activities more enjoyed bythe members. These were concerts. The choir has given about a dozen concerts during the year. With money in the treasury and assured of a pleasant trip, the choir set out for the Hotel Conrad Hilton in the loop. They sang at the Chicago Temple in Chicago. which has the tallest steeple in the world, They also sang at a North Park College and Lockwood Bible Church. On their return to l.udington. they all were very tired and happy about the successful trip. The Blue Goose Restaurant Myrtle B. In the above picture, some of the Juniors, Seniors, and their guests are shown admiring the water wheel which was b 'l ui t by Fred Boals, George Peterson, and Bob Kotecki. This was the main feature of the prom, fitting in with the overall theme of Down By the Old Mill Stream. Because everyone had such a wonderful time during the evening, all of the hard work that went into planning and constructing it was well worth it. The mill stood at the west end of the gym and held the interest of everyone there. Its little river ran around the refreshment table and was crossed by two bridges, Sponsored by . . . . The bulletin contained such rare announcements as the sunflower committee will meet at noon today or will the rosebuds please meet in room eight, The boys seemed to think the whole thing was quite funny, but it is really serious business. The theme of last year's Tea was A Flower Garden. It consisted of eight scenes connected by dialogue between two little old ladies strolling through their flower garden. Each of the eight different groups of flow- ers were represented by a song with the flower in its title, such as Jeannine, I Dream of Lilac Time and Sweet Violets. The girls were dressed like flowers with costumes they made in the days prior to the Tea. From then on the Sadie Hawkins dance became a real hoedown. The couples whirled about the haystacks and other accessor- ies including what is known as an out-doors- back-house. With patches on their knees and red handkerchiefs hanging from their jeans, local yocals became hayseeds. This popular dance is becoming an annual affair of the Girls' League.
