THE GLEAM Excerpts from the Diary of a Freshman j I EPTEMBER 9-Here I am-and all the other green freshies. The j joyous greetings of the old girls made me homesick at iirst- but they h are all so lovely that I do not feel like that any more. - September 14-I have been so busy with lectures and sight- seeing that I have not had time to keep my diary but now I must mention the Faculty reception. How we enjoyed that I I just know I am going to like everybody here. Today Miss Ellen took us- to Mount Vernon. lVhat a trip! Sunset over the Potomac! Supper on the boat! Songs on deck! It was perfect. I September 20-Our Big Sisters are just the best ever. VVe all had the best time at the picnic at Rock Creek Park. Some of them must have a 'fdragv with the weathei-man,'for it was a gorgeous moonlight night. A fire, games, eats, songs Hlld a ride along the silver Potomac-they surely knew what we would like. ' Then follows a period of uneventful weeks, filled most-ly with study and like excitement-then the entry- October 28-At last we are organized. VVe have begun our career as a class. We certainly showed our wfsdom when we chose our oflieers. Ruth Maguire can preside over even our obst1'eperous gang. Katherine Kingsley will be an able assistant.. Cecil Morris makes a good scribe and we'd trust Helen Wyatt with almost anything-at least the class money. ' Note-we are awfully sorry but we have had to elect. a new vice-president because Miss Kingsley' s health would not permit her to stay any longer. How- ever, we will choose another Elllfl hope that Kathryn will be able to return in February. Then followed another quiet. spell during which the chief anxiety' was the approaching bazaar-but before that finally arrived, one event occurred on November 8-Again the Seniors displayed their cleverness. This time it was the Hallowe'en Party which they ga.ve to the Juniors and us. We had just the best time. Weill have to go some at the George Washington Banquet. l18l
