12 For Better or for Worse For better or for worse must have been writ- ten in the faculty contracts, because most of the post-fire difficulties are definitely not for better. Classrooms were shrunk, relocated, and removed. Teachers proved to be highly adaptable creatures. Many changed from ideal surroundings to lower temperatures, smaller rooms, impossible acoustics, and no water. Everyone at LHS contributed to pulling the sys- tem back to normal, the faculty members did their pan as well by putting up with the worst. Here they are; fifteen courageous instructors of high school students, who braved the depres- sions of claustrophobia, lice, frostbite, laryn- gitis (from yelling over the LHS pep band), and the dreaded sleeping student syndrome caused by student exhaustion due to the overwhelming number of times the stairways become feats to conquer. Barb Berg enjoys playing the piano and organ, and reading. She graduated from Augsburg with a major in English and a Library Science minor. You know you’re a teacher when ... a stu- dent's eyes open wide and brighten with under- standing. Sheila Brom attended UW LaCrosse with a Physi- cal Education major and a Math minor. She enjoys playing the guitar, doing macrame and embroidery and growing plants.
