Prophecy As I was glancing through a magazine on a bright spring day in Hay of 1965, I saw something about the little village of Lu- cerne, where I used to go to school. It aroused my curiosity, so I read the article. Much to my surprise it stated that Lucerne was no longer a little village, but a city with a population of eight million. I decided right then and there to go back and visit my home town. As I got off the train in Lucerne and started walking down Broadway, I noticed a cop having some trouble with the traffic out in the middle of the intersection. Lo and behold if that cop wasn't NORMAN WARNER! I decided to walt on the street corner and talk to Norman about the whereabouts of his classmates. When the busy part of his day was over, he quickly recognized me, and we had a lengthy chat. He said he was enjoying his evenings by stay- ing at home with Janice, Tinna Merrie, and their son. He said GOLDY CUNNINGHAM was getting along with the world pretty well these days. After spending three years in the army where he designed and built quite a few new anny buildings, he was now in Washington designing a new White House, so he and his con- structors can start building it soon. Norman said that DICK WINN, after being editor of the S ot- Light decided he liked the job so well that he became the edgtor o e New York Times. Dick plays golf in his spare time. He has also become quIte good and has a game scheduled soon with the ex- president of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower. I also learned that the lonely girl of the class, NORMALOU UNGER, now Hrs. William Ashby, is living in Lafayette, Indiana. They have three children of their own, but if anyone can not find a babysitter some time, Nonmalou will be glad to keep the chil- dren for just a small fee. While talking to Norman, I looked up and recognized the per- son coming down the street in a pilot's suit as KENNY BROWN. He stopped to chat with us awhile before taking off for France. Be- fore he left, he took us over to Lucerne's famous airport to show us his plane. Kenny said he had just come from New York where he had 858166 in the Hlnnl Hotvl- ALLEN also has hotels all over the world. Much to our surprise, Kenny added that he had found BILLY FAIRCHILD as a bell-hop in the hotel. I asked if they knew the whereabouts of DICK BRIDGE, the only senior of 1956 for whom we had not accounted. Nonmnm said the last time he had heard, Dick and his wife were doing very well on a dairy fans in Wisconsin. Norman also added that the Bridges had six children, sixty cows, four dogs, twelve cats, and a few rats and mice. After leaving Norman and Kenny, I felt as if I had had a re- union wlth all of the class of 195 . Lois Crimmins
