Now we come to the hour of parting, All too soon we must say adieu, Time is urging us to be starting, Farewell to the dear classmates we knew. Time bids us that we must be leaving, Sadly we know that our school days are done, A smile will be hiding our hearts that are grieving, Farewell to the Class of Fifty-One. Sandra Dillman W. Sure enough it was Virginia Bailey, now Virginia Miller, with her three children. Virginia told me Georgiann and Cliff were coming from their farm near Twelve Mile for supper. She asked me to come too, and having no- thing special to do, I accepted. During the evening I learned what the rest of the class of 'Sl' was doing since they had left the dear old Lucerne High School. Jimmy Hickey'and Mary Lou are doing very well on their dairy farm with Jimmy as local 4-H leader of Harrison Township. I also learned that Joann Frushour is now after much hard work, the private secretary of the President. When I asked about Sandra Dillman, Georgiann told me that after she had been out of school for about a year or so she had married Joe. They are now living happily on their farm near Royal Center. I learned that Bill Cook is still with the National Guard, and is one of the top surgicial doctors. Nellie Carter, now Mrs. Mikesell, is living in Fulton teaching her children to be as neat and pleasant as she. Then someone mentioned Charles Remely. Georgiann informed us Charles had gone to Purdue and in his first year made the bas- ketball team and graduated with high honors. He is now on a farm near Lucerne and has a good start of a basketball team. The class didn't want to get too far apart for they are all right around Lucerne. Jack Herd and Phyllis are doing fine raising beef cattle, Jack's speciality. Not far from Jack's farm is Richard Crimmins's Chester White Hog Farm. Of course everything went well with his wife, Sarah Jane Herd, running the business of the work. I learned that Barbara Henry, now Barbara Hoover is very busy in her home near Twelve Mile raising her six children. Although Herbert Hanna always said he didn't care for girls, he is now married to Joyce Bresson and they are living in Lima, Ohio where Herbert is doing very well as a lawyer and Joyce's time is oc- cupied by taking care of their three children. Much to my surprise I learned that Lester Wallace is now coaching a basketball team, and is a swimming instructor in Chicago during the summer months. That seemed to be everyone of the class of 'Sl' except Wilma McQu1nn and Bob Ashby. Virginia said that Wilma had taken up art and had married her art teacher. She is living in New York. No one knew what had happened to Bob so we decided to turn on the radio. The first thing we heard the announcer say was, WNow stay tuned in to hear Bob Ashby and his band. They put on a very good fifteen minute program. As I left Virginia's house I was thinking of each graduate and the success he had gained for himself. 4 'M JUHIURS 1,15 .
