CLASS HISTORY In the early fall of 1956 forty five ngreen freshles' entered the unfamlllar halls of LTHS to begin their high school education Although we did not know many of our classmates, we chose as class officers Roger Richards, president, Charlie Welnbach, vice president, Ruth Warner, treasurer and Bill Young, secretary We elected Mr Pattie and Mr Bohleber sponsors ln order to boost our freshman team, we chose Sunny Goodman, Judy Ferguson, Judie West, and Mary Yelland Ruth Warner was our varsity cheerleader ln order to start earning money toward our senior trip, we sold soft drinks as a class project Freshman royalty consisted of Sunny Goodman as football queen candidate and Allene Gunn as basketball queen candidate lt seemed that we had only begun to be come acquainted when lt was time for summer vacation Forty two of us returned to be called 'silly sophs ln organizing our class, we chose Mlke Jones, president, Sunny Goodman, vice pres! dent, Mary Yelland, treasurer, and Donna Nash, secretary For sponsors we selected Mrs Thurman and Mr Thomas This year our contribution to the varslty cheerleaders was Sunny Goodman On the hottest day of the fall, our class Jackets arrived We chose Donna Nash as basketball queen candidate with Judy Ferguson as her attendant, and Mary Yelland was football queen candidate For this yearls class project, we sold Christmas cards and novelties Thlrty five of us came back the following year and found ourselves in the position of upperclassmen Our sponsors were Miss Emma Waters and Mr Thomas Mike Jones, Eddie Hornback, Glenna Mclntlre, and Roger Richards were chosen as president, vice president, secretary, and treas urer, respectively Sunny Goodman was again our varsity cheerleader It wasn't long until we were running around with a gleam on our fingers as well as ln our eyes We were very proud of our class rings Donna Nash and Glenna Mclntlre were chosen to represent us as football queen candidate and attendant Our basketball queen candidate was Anna Joyce Harrell and her attendant was Sharon Krantz 'Be Happy, Go Wacky' was of April we be an working on the prom and banquet which was held ln May Our theme was Oriental Gardens There were thlrty four of us who returned the following fall to be come the 'Sophisticated Seniors of Sixty We chose Miss Mattlngley and Mr Harris to lead us through the many actlvltles of our senior year For class officers, we elected Carolyn Wilson, president, Judy Ferguson, vice president, Donna Nash, secretary, and Anna Joyce Herrell, treas urer We worked very hard selling football season tickets and we were rewarded by having our candidate, Judie West, crowned queen Venda Woodson served as her maid of honor Our basketball queen candidate was Donna Nash and Judy Ferguson was her attendant Sunny Goodman was again varsity cheerleader 'Stop the Wedding was the title of our senior play This three act comedy, by Frank Magary, had the following cast Bob Alverson, Rex Crowder, Judy Ferguson, Edward Gaesser, Sunny Goodman, Anna Joyce Herrell, Eddie Hornback, Sharon Krantz, Glenna Mclntlre, Donna Nash, Ronnie Pope, Jerry Scales, Phillip Schmidt, Ruth Warner, Charlie Welnbach, Carolyn Wilson, Carolyn Yeager, Judy Yeager, Wayne Yeager, and Bill Young To finance the annual senior trip, we had a car wash, sold popcorn, held bake sales, gleaned corn, and last but not least, had the annual chicken supper We enjoyed seeing many very interesting sights on our long awaited trlp to Washington, D C , and New York City When we returned, we found that the juniors were pre parlng for the annual prom and banquet which was held on May 13 On May 15 Rev Ohanlan delivered our baccalaureate address Graduation was held on May 17 for our class of thirty one members Mr Robert Rowland was the speaker White for the girls and blue for the boys were the colors of our caps and gowns We selected the rose as our class flower and 'Today We Follow, Tomorrow We Lead' as our motto As we bld fare well to LTHS, we realize that this will be the last time our class will be together for many years , - 3 . . . - .n our class play.
