THE QUODDY LIGHT CLASS HISTORY In the fall of the year of 1920 some eighty five or ninety boys and girls ven tured forth from their various haunts to begin a most perilous and fearful Journey the exploration of the myster 1es of Lubec High School That September morning was far from being a pleasant one It rained dis mally Our hearts seemed filled with vague fears and doubts and we waited impatiently for the bells to rlng When the doors were opened we rushed in no1s1ly much to the disgust of the se date upper classmen We soon found ourselves in the as sembly hall scrambling for a seat some Where 1n the crowd Finally the din subslded and our teachers were 1ntro Mr Hopkins our principal proved to be very pleasant and congenial Our sub master was Mr Blalsdell a tall stern lookmg 1nd1v1dual who really had the knack of making us poor freshmen a fraid of h1m Miss Katherine Clark Miss Bradford Miss Nash and M Chick were the other members of the faculty Gradually We established ourselves as a class but we didn t honestly feel at home until after the Freshman recep tion Not until then d1d it dawn upon our minds how greatly we were liked and seeing how much the rest of the school put themselves out to give us a good time we Just couldn t help be1ng grateful to them We held class meet1ngs electmg our officers with Clara Sheldon as president We also chose a suitable motto and our class colors Time passed serenely until the first set of examinations were taken They were severe ones so lt seemed then andafew of our classmates failed to come back to take up the new terms Work How quickly the first Vear drifted by and the following vacation found us looking forward to our sophomore year We found numerous changes Mr Blaisdell returned as principal assisted by Mr Donovan sub master Miss Den n1s instructed in French and Latin M Noyes in Science and Mathematics MISS Wiggin in Domestic Sclence while Miss Hamlin ruled supreme 1n the Commer cial department Class officers were elected with Montford Peabody in the president s chair Freshman reception whlch affair was well enjoyed and the Sophomore hop This was rather dlsappointing as the weather was unpleasant and only a small crowd attended Time waits for nothing and when well spent it passes swiftly Final exams were taken and when our year s work was completed we left High School with the Jolly smiles of Juniors already on our faces There were only forty nine of us when school reopened 1n the fall of 22 We welcomed Mr Donovan as our pr1nc1 pal He with Mr Anderson Mr Gas tonguay M1ss Nelson M1ss Damon and Miss Wlggln comprlsed one of the most helpful and cooperative teach1ng staffs we have ever had The crowning events of our Junior year were the Jumor Exhibition and the Prom g1ven by us to the graduating C53 , . . i . . , , I . . , . . . . , . . . , ' .
