Who says sophomores aren't tops! exclaims Carolyn Birdsong, Jimmy Lanham, Shana Lowe, and Janet Tabor whose homeroom captured first place in the Homecoming door decoration contest. Go Lubbock! Go! was the cry at the L.H.S. homecoming game against cross-town competitior, Coronado, with the Cheerleaders heading the Westerner delegation in shouts for victory at Lowrey Field.

Nancy Nislar, Bill Hilburn, Pam Utley, and John Gully. Introduced to an enthusiastic football crowd were Mr. Homecoming Boosts Football Spirit As a gracious hostess, senior Linda Ellis serves Mrs. Mickie Roper at the annual Lubbock High School Home- coming Tea honoring ex-students and teachers. Black and Gold Week was accelerated by stu- dent activities for a funfilled 1969-70 Homecoming. Westerners, constantly on the go during this active week, saw everyone doing their thing to help promote school spirit. Door, car, and hall decora- tions required extra hours of creativity and imagination. Spirit reached its peak at the annual night pep rally as Westerners became the center of atten- tion. Senior loyalty by-passed juniors and sopho- mores as the class captured the attendance trophy. Lubbock High ex-students drank in the spicy fall testivity when they attended the Homecoming Tea, given by the Student Council, in their honor. The crowning of Nancy Nislar as Black and Gold Queen at halftime, and the after-game dance, cli- maxed the week-long activities.
