Fall . . First of School Brings New Interest to Students, Faculty At the start of the fall months, students return to school and to autumn activities. Meeting new students and faculty are all a part of the first Week of school along with other firsts: first morning pep rally, first football game, and first party. Sept. 3 . . . First day excitement is over as Charla Shipman, Sammye Hubbard, Saundra Hardy, Cynthia 5 , Edwards, Jim McCrory and Dianne 55.9 McGee leave the school. Sept. 5 ...i A plaque proclaiming our campus as the Home of the Lubbock Westerners is the newest addition to Lubbock High School and is shown here at its dedication. Presenting it to Mr. W. H. Howorth, Mr. Jerry Crawford, and Kaye Ed- wards on behalf of the senior class of 1958 is Don Sledge. Sept. ll . . . Sept. 17 . . . Over 1,400 students and teachers had pictures Sept. 24 . . . Parent-Teacher Association had its a-nnual open made for the class section of the annual. Karen James poses for house for parents to visit with faculty members and to see the Mr. Allen Hammer while Phillip Tillery, Phyllis Hoffman, Bar- school. Mrs. Roberta Henry is watching as Mrs. EJR, Heineman bara Halley, and Bobbie Horn Wait in line. and a mother register their P-TA dues. Fall . . . School Activities Center Around Assemblies, Holidays, Pictures School activities were well underway by the last of September. Annual pictures were taken, open house for parents was set, and the assembly sched- ule started with the Orientation and Honor Assem- blies. Then came the first holidays: first for the South Plains Fair and a little later for Thanks- giving. I Oct. 2 . . . The honor assembly showed the effects of the Honor System on Lubbock High School. Pat Tucker as Wes Nur escorts Pat Milton, the elephant, remem- bers how it was before Westerners had an Honor System. Sept. 30 . . . The South Plains Fair was the excuse for a half-day holiday for Lubbock schools. Tak- ing advantage of the occasion are Gene Lack, Shirley Littral, and Emily Nicar.
