GEORGE DAWSON-As a delegate to Boys, State, George has participated in many outstanding activities during his three years in LHS. President of Hi-Y is top on his list of accomplish- ments. George has also been a mem- ber of the Westemaires two years and was vice-president of the choir this year. During the 1955 school year George was chosen as junior Rotarian of the Month. JANIS PIERCE-With a total of twenty-three A's at press time, she is known for her outstanding scholastic ability. She has been an active mem- ber of NHS for the past two years. Janis hasn't been taking snap courses, her majors were English, mathematics. science, and history. In the field of service, Ianis has served two years as a Y-Teen oliicer. Winning the con- fidence of her classmates, she was chosen as a candidate for president of Y-Teens. BRADFORD REEVES-Versatility is the feature of Bradford's outstanding qualities. He played Cowhand football and ran track last year. This year he returned for the 1955 season. Brad- ford has also been a member of the Westerner band. He found time to total twenty-one A's and hold mem- bership in NHS. His majors have been math, science, and English. Individual Achievements Recognized GARMA JEAN WILLIAMSON-VL vacious Carma Jean has done more toward boosting the LHS spirit than almost any other student. Serving as head-cheerleader and a Y-Teen ofli- cer has kept her busy. Her likable nature has won her many friends and the confidence of her classmates. Be- cause of her spirit and enthusiasm, Carma was chosen Girl of the Month for Ianuary. KAY BURNAM-A perfect example of efficiency could well describe Kay. Because of this factor along with her many other line qualities, Kay was elected to serve as president of Y- Teens. She is a member of NHS, Musicians' Guild, and the Student Council. Kay was December Girl of the Month and was chosen to serve as a delegate to Girls, State in 1954. BUTCH LAWRENCE-As a member of the team, spirited little Butch spurred the Westerner cagers on at times when victory looked dim. Al- though Butch is a member of Western- aires and senior vice-president, he is recognized most frequently for his never dying enthusiasm. Other ac- tivities in which Butch is a Willing worker are NHS and Hi-Y. 1

-,,e.1'? SUZANNE WILSON-Busy, quiet, and hard working co-editor of the WESTERNER, Suzanne is a deserving candidate for Senior Who's Who. Her main interest in LHS has been publi- cations work, and being a member of Quill and Scroll, she served as vice- president of that organization. Suz- anne is also an active member of the Spanish Club, NHS, and Y-Teens. She was selected March Girl of the Month. ROY WEBB-Highlighting a high- school career with a trip to Kansas City with the FFA judging team, Roy showed livestock at Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Angelo, plus local shows. Roy has been a very active member of the Future Farmers of America chapter here at LHS for three years and served as president this year. 8 Boys I1 ho's Who BETTYE JANE FEATHERS-Be- cause of her outstanding art ability, Bettye jane has been recognized as one of the most capable students in the Senior class in this field. She has entered in several art exhibits and contests. Although Bettye Jane just recently moved here from Georgia, she has entered into the swing of LHS life and has done her share in making the school a success. DALE PRUETT-Always willing to do what no one else will is Dale. He is president of Distributive Education and was elected national delegate to the National Meet held in Richmond, Virginia, in April. Dale is a member of FBLA, and, although he is re- served, he is an active member of his c ass. CAROLE JEAN DELANEY-Carole Iean's exceptional musical talent has put her almost constantly in demand. She plays the piano, organ and other instruments and sings. Her abilities, however, are not limited to music. She is an outstanding worker in the Student Council and in the publica- tions department. She is a member of Quill and Scroll, El Club Pan Ameri- cano, NHS, and Y-Teens as well as being in Westernaires and the Note- belles quartette. JOYCE THRUSH-Meticulous and ef- ficient almost to perfection, Joyce finished her three years' Work on the WESTERNER in the slots as head copy editor and advertising copy and layout editor. She also eamed the position of special reporter for the WESTERNER WORLD her junior year. Active in Quill and Scroll, she was parliamentarian and membership chairman this year.
