Shown below are senior Westemer football Elayers and senior girls in an exhibition basket- al game at the senior party. On the court are Suzette Francis, Coach O,Banion, Roy Day, Sharon Chick, Beverly Webb, and Phil Williams. After the Amarillo and Borger basketball ames sock ho s were held in Chapman Field gym. Shown above are Marslga Brock and Bobby Ha ood bo ping after the Amarillo game. Records of Glenn Miier, Bill? Maye, Ella Mae Morse, the Clovers, and many other well-known artists provided the music. Seen trippinfg the light fantastic in the boys' gym at an all- school party a ter the Borger game are several basketball players and their dates. A victory at the game made the evening possible for lots of fun. These parties were sponsored by the Student Council under the direction of the Recreation Committee. Shown below are Toni Bannister, Yvonne Skinner, and Larry Merriman selling cokes at the party on Round-Up night. One of these tables was seen at eve all-school party. These refreshments were welcomed after a rogram in the auditorium or a fast dance in the gym. The profit made on cokes was placed in the Student Council treasury. 151

Parties Feature Fun for All Lavinrac Renretsew, the senior carnival, fea- tured a new attraction this year, a masquerade party. Their faces reflecting puzzlement, are panelists David Rigney, Roma Caveness, and Diana Smith. Pat Rainer and Sandra Sherrill Howls of laughter greet Ioy Herod's ever popu- lar pantomimes. Performing to I Wisht They Would, joy, Senior Class secretary, was on one of the talent shows featured in an all-school party. Talent shows, dancing, movies, games, and re- are the pages, Mr. Wayne Allen, emcee, and joy Herod, masquerader. freshments were among the attractions offered at the numerous school parties. 1 100 Westerners Attend Round-Up Round-Up, a time for ten- allon hats, chaps, bright western shirts, and colorful full dresses, brings out the western spirit in the many stu- dents of LHS. Round-Up is highlighted by the election of favorites, a talent show in the audi- cinddsquare-dancing in the gym to a i i y an . After the talent show held in the auditorium, students, dressed in western garb in the tradi- tional Hound-Up fashion, enjoyed square darw- ing to the music of Tommy Hancock and his Roadside Playboys. With dances varying from the Virginia Heel to Red River Valleyi' stu- dents promenaded over the gym with as much spirit as a cowhand on pay day. Contests are held at Round-Up and leather belts with Round-Up '55 on the back are given as prizes. Shown watching Betty Rut- edge, writer of the winning slogan, measure Jeanette Taylor, the designer of the winning program cover, for her belt, are winners Bob Burgess, Western instrument, Bette McCann, original poem, Ouida Deatherage, best posterg Favonia Dial, best-dressed girl, and Don Gar- nett, best-dressed boy. The best-dressed bo s and girls are Naomi Johnson and Donna Coulb, runners-up, and Favonia Dial, best-dressed girl, back row, Stuart Hudnall and Roy Day, runners-up, and Don Camett, best dressed boy.
