Ki I Students abandon routinesg pursue quiet and relaxation Caught up in the rush of school exfents, students found little time for leisure activities. Needing time for introspection, stu- dents searched out empty stairwells and classrooms as places to just sit and think. On dust-free days bike riding be- came a popular sport. Students rode to the mall and nearby parks for picnics and enjoyed the exercise and sunshine a clear day in Lubbock brings. Air hockey was a popular pastime, and pucks flew as students demon- strated their air hockey prowess. Guys often whiled away time by playing pool, and girls took leisurely shopping trips to the mall and downtown. Students spent most spare moments sharing everyday experiences with friends and enjoying their fellowship. LEISURE TIME-27

Jamboree, Nelson provide laughter, music for students Fall musical happenings opened in late October with the Rick Nelson Concert. The crowd's participation increased as Nelson and his band rolled out such hits as Mary Lou and Garden Party. The LCC Jazz Ensemble provided pre-Nelson entertainment with their renditions of rock and blues. Sweet Adelines also provided hand- clapping entertainment. Building their show around the play, South Pacific, they performed before a small but appreciative crowd. Jamboree '74-, produced by the Music Masters, centered around vaudeville skits, patriotic numbers, and the musical, Carousel. A new tradition was started with the student directed play, I Never Saw Another Butterfly. The drama cen- tered around a Jewish girl's remem- branoes during the Nazi takeover in WWII. The highlight of the Spring semes- ter was Master Follies built on the the theme That's Entertainment. The annual variety show gave each social club a five minute spot to perform their musical numbers. First place honors in the men's division went to Alpha Chi Delta for their rendition of the H1787 Heidelburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Theta Rho won the women's division with their presentation of The Good Ship Lolli- pop. 28 -LYCEUMS 1 . fu? 'Xl ' ff' YP . .--g ' F . MF I .,. : :9, . 4.11 I li.
