1980 Woff I Loyola University Of Tl e Soytfj New Orleans, Louisiana ' Flight 714 is now arriving from Anywhere, USA at tl-ie N.O. airport - ON TIME! Final desti- nation Is LOYOLA U. and as you look over your left v ing you ' ll see the SUPERDOME and famous, old CANAL ST. As we fly over the Audubon Pork area you ' ll see the tip of Holy Name Church and our final landing strip - the world-renowned pond r the Park. As you have landed at your destination, please re- member to collect all your personal gear and to waddle across ST. CHARLES to LOYOLAI Once at Loyola we had a great time seeing all of the sights. New Orleans seems to be a unique city of various cultures, which have been joined together by a magic thread of fascinating people. Everyone seems to care for each other and to lend a helping hand when needed. Also, New Orleanians, whether na- tives or out-of-town students, party together with a zest for life that is astounding. Some of the familiar places include Fat Harry ' s, Tin Liz- zie ' s, the Boot, Shanahan ' s. the French Quarter ' s Pat O ' Brien ' s, and Melius. ie? J - - • , 1 Returning to Loyola we begin no- ticing the . :;hooi activities, whicin are enlnanced by the mixing of many people from various back- grounds. Often, the quod reserves its ovi n place in the hearts of the students, as does the Rec. Center and its events. What gives the quad its attrac- tion? STUDENTS, who toss a frisbee, volley a ball, drink beer, or just sit! Our Rec. Center, too, has tennis, racquetball, basketball, and volley- ball for all to enjoy. Loyola is our second home as we ore continually welcomed here every day. When you wake up thinking it ' s Thursday and it ' s actually only Tuesday, you know it ' s going to be a long week! Finally, the weekend comes. T.G.I.F. — Thank God It ' s Friday! Loyoia students really know how to end a week with their own T.G.LF. celebrations in the quad: a little music, a little beer, a lot of people, and a lot of fun! During Mardis Gras, costumes and mini-truck parades are added to the usual festivities. Some people, however, may prefer a more reserved way to spend their afternoon. A game of backgammon in the Wolf Den, reading a good book — one that isn ' t required! — or some quiet moments of sharing thoughts by the water at Audubon Park. The Friday celebrations culminate a long week of studies and tests for students. It is at this time, the week- end, that students and faculty find time to relax and unwind. We see, now, the individuals who make up Loyola, for it is the individual, who comes together with other s, that adds life and unity to the campus. SHOE SHINI The Individualism of the student-body characterizes Loyola as a unique educationai center of the Deep South. Here, Southern hospitality. New Orleans charnn, and Loyola students join hands in friendship. Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, releases character expressionism in the stu- dents at almost every corner. This individualism is ex- pressed by donning costumes, a Dixie Beer cap, or by sittin ' back and v atching the sights, No matter which way you choose to express yourself, you are at home in New Orleans, the City That Care ForgotI li tmrn.ilt •1 f ¥ f. L r iflm 1 oi New Orleans is a city of charm and personality, a city unique unto itself. The Streetcar ride on St. Charles to downtown and the French Quarter beconnes a weekly routine. The nnusic of dixieland, jazz and disco, feeding the pigeons at Jackson Square and caf6 and beignets at the Cafb Du- Monde are only some of the advan- tages to being a student at Loyola. New Orleans offers students an unsur- passed education in a city of history, culture and traditions. It is a gathering place for tourists and a home for stu- dents. New Orleans is a southern city, the perfect setting for a southern school. J., university professor in religious studies and well-known priest, teacher, scholar, and author, will be leaving the Loyola family next year to go on indefinite assignment to Paraguay. Fr. McNospy ' s move is in response to a call for help from his brother Jesuits in Paraguay suffering from a lock of manpower. He and three other Jesuits comprise the main port of the New Orleans Province answer to the problems besetting the Paraguayan Jesuits. I think every Jesuit would like to be a missionary, says McNaspy, and looks upon himself as one. I ' m glad to have this foreign experience in the twilight of my life. Despite his impending 65th birthday, Fr. McNaspy had been invited to stay on indefinitely at Loyola by university officials — a fact that does not surprise those who know him. His wide range of academic achievements, including degrees in classics (M.A.), theology (S.T.L.), and music (Mus. Lie, Mus. Doc), is complemented by a broad range of cultural experience. He has studied twenty languages, speaks five of them fluently (including Russian and Japa- nese), has traveled and lectured on every continent and is experienced in television and radio production. His main area of work has been in the relation- ship of religion and culture, particularly liturgy and the arts. As Dr. Swanzy, Dean of the College of Music, says, He is unique and simply can ' t be re- placed. Fr. McNospy ' s new career — my fourth! as he puts it — will largely involve the education of young Jesuits, as well as teaching at the Jesuit University in Asuncion and working in television and radio. How make such a drastic change so late in life? There ' s nothing easy about living in a foreign country, he admits. It will be hard not to see old and best friends. But it ' s worthwhile; the need in Paraguay is very great. I feel that, even late in life, I may still have time to participate in the foreign mission aspect of Jesuit life. He will be sorely missed. OLf (i U Nestled on one side of the academic quod rests the ontiquatea building housing the College of Business Administration, Contained within its walls exists the neoconservotive Chicago school of economic thought espoused by Dr. William Barnett. A graduate of Loyola University, Dr. Barnett received his Ph.D. in economics at Michigan State University. Since returning to Loyola to pursue his role in academia, he has provided his students with more than on under- standing, but, perhaps, an education in practical economics. Life is more than a collection of Phillips curves and marginal consumption trends, however. Avoiding the universal trap that many other professors often fall into. Dr. Barnett feels that it is important to educate oneself in all areas. His interests lie in economics, law, history, politics, science, and many other areas that students specialize in. Heaven, he said, is understanding, or what some call knowledge or wisdom. Material possessions and status are nothing compared to understanding. It is his goal to try to pass on to my students the little that I learn in life. Students may not agree with him, but all respect him. It is hard to respect an easy teacher and even harder to like an academically demanding one. Dr. Barnett clearly feels that respect is more important than being liked. However, outside the classroom there is no one more willing to help than he. — Marc O. Dedman Seniors Blake G. Their delicate beauty and radiant colors attracted him like a magnet. My mother used to get mod at me because I would pull the petals off the flower and try to peel away to the color, said Father Wren with a boyish grin drawn across his face. This deep interest in flowers he feels is a very major reason why he got in to Zen, which he now teaches at Loyola. While as a priest in his internship teaching at Jesuit High in Dallas, Fr. Wren was in a library where he came upon a book on Iki Bono, which is the art of classical Japanese flower arrangement. His early love of flowers was sparked again. This book revealed to him that Zen influenced all Japanese arts. When Fr. Wren turned 17, he entered the priesthood. During his training, Fr. Wren said that the priests had to meditate from 5:30 to 6:30 every morning and a half hour in the afternoon. Also every year a priest would hove to take an eight day retreat on his own. At the beginning and end of his novitiate, the priest must make an thirty day retreat on his own. This stress on meditation pushed him into pursuing meditation further. It was then in 1970 when Fr. Wren first came to Loyola. This was a very tense period Fr. Wren said because it was in May of 1970 that the Kent State shooting occured. Also, the U.S.A. was in the process of bombing Cambodia. Because of all this there was a very anti-clerical scene. They were very mean to the priests, Fr. Wren said in a somber voice. As a result of this, in 1971 Fr. Wren felt Loyla needed a Zenema. It was an instant success amoung stu- dents. Fr. Wren had to limit it to 15 men and 15 women. Despite its popularity, he sites that it has had its ups and downs. The course has been in and out of religious studies three times. However he said, beaming with pride, that it is back OS a religious oestetic premodern. I asked Fr. Wren, Why Zen? He said the main point was because school is too often strictly cerebral. Zen, however makes an impression on the totality. Fr. Wren said, The soul impinges on the flesh and the flesh impinges on the soul. I asked the reward of teaching and he said it was the good Zen has done for a lot of people. He presented the beautiful concept of love by saying, People have freedom to move if they want and if they do not want to move, you still love them. A big honor for Fr. Wren was in 1973 when he went to a Jesuit school in Tokyo, and while there he studied Iki Sana at the Togetsu Kikon, one of the most famous flower arranging schools in Japan. Yomadi Roshi took Fr. Wren under his wing. This school was founded by Sofu Teshigahar, a Japanese master. Fr. Wren proudly claimed that in one years ' time he had done the equivelent of four years of study. As a closing note he would like and is tempted to form a Christian Zendo in the future. — Bob Cahill oeniors Gerard Dugue Criminal Justice Franl E. Fouchi Criminal Justice Daniel G. She almost bubbles in front of a classroom, with a girlish enthusiasm that emits giggles interspersed with interpretations on the highest legal rulings handed down. But don ' t let the cutesy-cutesy fool you; if you ever go up against her in court, she may, as one of her students put it, blow your doors away. No doubt about it. Associate Professor of Law Kathryn Venturatos Lorio, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Newcomb College, knows her stuff. What is more, she believes in what she is doing. Maybe that is why she is one of two Favorite Professors of the Loyola Law School, as selected by the student body. We really provide a service here in the low school, Lorio says. A lawyer has the capacity today to do so much for good or evil in this society, and I think here at Loyola we really are a tool for good. She adds that Loyola is an excellent place to help young people do something really positive with their lives. Even though she is not Catholic, she sees Loyola, being a church-oriented institution, as a place where the re- sources and people are most apt to be about things that really matter. The daughter of a successful steel painting contractor (she smiles each time she crosses the Mississippi River Bridge), Lorio says that she has the best of both worlds in that she has roots both here in New Orleans, and in Pennsylvania. Both her parents were very influential in her life, and she points with pride to the fact that hers is the American dream realized; she a lawyer, her brother a doctor, her sister a Ph. D. candidate, and her husband Philip, a Loyola graduate, and also an attorney. My father did well for himself, he ' s pretty sharp. Mom gave us alot of the old world values, and I guess I ' m pretty conservative in alot of the things I believe in and do, she says. But that conservatism was never blind. She remembers one occasion, in college, when she made a speech at the height of the Vietnam War to an audience who had amoung its number, then Vice-President Spiro T. Agnew. I said that my generation could say we like things because ' and loved things although ' , she explains. And that we did indeed love our country although ' we were involved in that war. Why is she one of the most popular professors? Well, I think it may be that I ' m comfortable with what I ' m doing now, she soys. I ' m comfortable with the classes, with the work, and also, most importantly I think, with the knowl- edge that I don ' t know everything. Lorio says that used to bother her, but that her teaching style matured greatly when she came to understand that for her too, law school teaching is a learning experience. She adds that she tries to integrate some discussion of values with the substance of the low. There ore things that need to be talked about, and I try to bring out the positive of what the students can do as lawyers when they graduate, she says. A bit of a cheerleader? Maybe. But when the giggles subside, one realizes she is a bit of a coach too, and a great one at that. And who would know better than her team, her students? Thanks, Kathyl! — Vito A. Clementi 112 4y W f c Avid television v atchers will remember from the now defunct series Paper Ctiase (describing a first year law student ' s experiences at Harvard Universi- ty), a terrifying ttiree piece suited monster professor named Kingsfield, who took sadistic pleasure from berating freshmen who were ill-prepared for class. Although favorite professor Mike Vitello is no Kingsfield (looking and sound- ing like a six and a half foot Groucho Marx), he sees a true and very necessary method to his sometimes sarcastic classroom madness in his teaching style. I ' ll admit I ' m a real whipcracker, Vitello says, but there is a real academic point to all of it. What I ' m trying to do is to get people to think on their feet. Mike sees this as crucial to a freshman law student ' s development, and citing the American Bar Association ' s statement that the practice of law is not for the meek, odds that no one is going to be holding your hand when you stand up in court. And why was he chosen one of the two most popular profs? Because slavedriver or not, Vitello says students ultimately realize the value of quick thinking in a tight situation. He admits that initially many of his students get turned off by his method, but soon mature and actually get to love the smell of combat. Vitello should know, he observed quite alot of legal combat after graduat- ing from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Clerking for an appellate court judge for three years gave him a chance to see many lawyers in action. In addition, his boss in those days was very demanding, and would grill his clerks on cases coming before his bench, I never really worked that hard in law school, Vitello admits, but clerking gave me the knowledge of just how demanding the practice of law should be for those who are most effective. The practice of law, as Vitello sees it, is one of social action. ' Especially here at Loyola, students should recognize a social commitment. Values should be addressed in the classroom along with the law, he soys. Although he says society is now in a lull in terms of social consciousness, he adds that from what he sees from students, history is coming around in a cycle again, to the point that students are beginning to get interested in other things besides making grades. Vitello says he has always wanted to be a teacher. Why a law professor? Plainly, because I know I can do a better job of it than some of the profs I had when I was in school. What he sees as most important to the college and law student is to keep a level head in their outlook. Rationality does not go out of vogue, or it should at least not be so. Still, students should always keep questioning. Finally, the New York born. New Jersey raised, Pennsylvania educated Mike Vitello is a self-admitted closet cowboy, who loves farming and Willie Nelson records. He also revels in baseball, Tom Seaver his admitted idol, the Yankees the object of his Unrestrained hatred. What does the future hold for one of Loyola Law ' s favorites? Well, I ' d like to continue to teach and write about the law, Vitello says, but also expand into community action, speaking to groups about the law. Someday, however, Mike Vitello (student slavedriver, community legal ac- tivist, favorite professor, baseball addict, closet cowboy) would like to retire to his wife ' s family farm in Mississippi. I love going there, it ' s a place to get away to, he says. Thanks, Mikel i — Vito A. Clementi Seniors 114 Night Law School seniors take time to pose for a group picture. The pride of this elite group comes from their ability to turn a piece of magnetic tape into a work of art, or a film flick into a masterpiece that would make Hitchcock proud. The film fanatics did not fare as well, however, as the axe cut off fhat department, and now we are training journalists and broadcasters only. Memories of the film department linger on through flicks like The Invasion of the Leisure Suits and Carnival of the Dam. In March, fellow communications students Wayne Walker made a valiant stab for the SGA Presidency. Also, plans to add another floor to Monroe Hall in order to house our expanding department received the green light. The department does not train aspiring artists for careers, but students have the help of a distinguished faculty in securing work. Many graduates go into advertising design, department store window displays, and newspaper photography. Many students combine a visual arts degree with programs in business and education. Art majors at Loyola are priveleged indeed to benefit from such on excellent program and from such fine teachers. These students have the added pleasure of studying in America ' s most cosmopolitan city. New Orleans, which has attracted numerous artists from around the globe. 128 Profile On The Drama Department Someone spotted ice glaciers moving toward Marquette Haii! It wasn ' t an illusion. The glaciers were part of the sets for the Drama Department ' s production of Thorton Wilder ' s The Skin of Our Teeth. The alegoricai comedy was energetically performed and exemplified the department ' s zeal for quality productions. The Drama faculty and young thesplans carry enthusiasm into every dramatic endeavor (including plays performed free at the Experimental Theatre). The professionalism, which is evident in each student, is inspired by the capable faculty. Dr. Don Brady, Associate Professor of Drama and Speech, and the director of The Skin of Our Teeth, appeared in the NBC movie Freedom Road with Muhammad Ali. Rev. Ernest Ferlita, S.J. is an award winning playwright. He recently completed The Obe ZsAf, which opened at Marquette Theatre in the Spring of ' 80. The ploy is based on the myth Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus, who is willing to die rather than go against her conscience. The violent incident that the plot revolves around (the murder of three students by government troups) is anything but mythical. It is based on a real occurence in E; Salvador in 1978. Ferlita and the cast (which consisted of Drama majors and students in other fields) worked diligently on this production. In the middle of an exhausting rehearsal, Ferlita interrupted an aspiring actress as she said her line. You ' re not feeling that linel he cried. But I ' m starting to feel it, the girl protested. After a few weeks of rehearsal, the actress did feel the line. Her interpretation differed somewhat from Ferlita ' s and apparently, that is to be expected. Actors are constantly revealing to the playwright things that he did not see or hear, said Ferlita. Although the play went through three rewrites, Ferlita made more revisions on the script during the first few days of rehearsals. When you have a workshop with a new play, you expect this to happen, said Ferlita. The hope is that the actors will contribute to the final form of the play. 130 ' Last Fall one of the Department ' s productions made a real splash (so to speak) at Marquette Theatre, The un- usual and intriguing production of Noah ' s Flood and Things Like That was directed by Nancy Sipes (Speech Lecturer). The first production of the year, The Mikado, deed- ed by Brother Alexis Gonzales, was full of surprises. Rev. C.J. McNaspy, S.J. made a cameo appearance. Due to the size of the Department (about 25 majors) students are given more opportunity to perform and work backstage. An actor or actress is often involved in several of the productions ' operations. They may help Herb Soyas (Associate Professor of Drama and Speech) with the sets or work with the costumes and make-up. The Department looks forward to the day when they will have complete facilities. For now, they ' re doing well with what they hove. A Profile On The Reserve Officer Training Corps An ROTC program at a small liberal arts college? It does seem a bit strange at first. But according to President Carter It might even be said that a liberal arts college, more so than the military academies, is equipped to prepare officers with that humane sense of balance which will keep their value systems from being seduced by the attraction of military games- manship. Father Carter also says that the program in ROTC gives students much needed l nowledge of what it takes to be a leader In this world. The Military Science Department at Loyola offers both two and four year programs In ROTC as well as two, three, and four year scholarships. The program is quite flexible as students are paid during their stay in college. Once the student has received an academic degree, he or she is commissioned as a Second Lieu- tenant in one of the branches of the Army and may serve three years of active duty, or seek a position with the Army Reserve or the National Guard. ; mST 132 fe if . The ROTC program here at Loyola offers the students endless opportunities for enjoyment through its extra- curricular activities. If you enjoy markmanship, then the rifle and pistol teams are for you. These squads compete in both intra and interstate matches. The primary goal of the rifle and pistol teams is to develop marksmanship skills while emphasizing the safe handling of guns. The ROTC Rangers develop leadership in students by physical training, small unit tactics, and regularly scheduled field training exercises. Our Pershing Rifle Company 1-16 is a branch of the National Pershing Rifle Military Fraternity. These young people make up a drill and ceremonial company v hich regularly competes with other universities nationwide as well as marching in the Mardi Gras parades. They have been seen on national television. Finally, The National Society of Scabbard and Blade is an honorary society with membership open to all cadets who have demonstrated interest enthusiasm, and academic excellence in Military Science subjects. ROTC students also participate in the Intramural Sports Program here at Loyola. The cadets have won numerous individual and team awards over the years and consistently develop superior athletes. 133 student Government Association The Student Government Associ- ation of Loyola University is a poiitical organization, the purpose of vi hich is to promote and protect student rights; and to determine, clarify, and enunciate student policies and opin- ions to the university community. Anyone interested in inquiring about any such commit- tee may do so. All that is required is that you stop by the SGA office and volunteer your services. The SGA elections this year were the closest and most exciting in re- cent times. While Ivan Ransopher easily defeated Kevin Ries for the SGA vice-presidency, the presidential race drevi a field of three candi- dates, and the race was not decid- ed until several weeks later with the runoff election. Bob Pelletier, Wayne Walker, and Robert Buras all tried for the presi- dency. The results of the first election showed the need for a runoff be- tween Buras and Walker. The runoff showed that Law student Bob Buras had defeated Communications major Wayne Walker by barely 100 votes. • ' ' m £r ' SGA Pre-election debate An interesting meeting draws alertness from Reps. 137 Loyola Union The purpose of the Loyola Union is to program activities for the Loyola University community In and around the Danna Center. It was not known whether The Wolf, Loyola ' s yearbook, would continue. Annie Gudaitis, editor of The Wolf, and Manny Cunard, yearbook advisor, decided to call a meeting and see just how many people were interested. Well, the response was great and The Wolf survived. The opening banquet was held in February as a means of allowing the staff to become acquainted with one another. At that time, Manny Cunard and Bill Hopkins, representative from Josten ' s Yearbook Company, told the staff members that with a lot of hard work the book could be finished by June and shipped to Loyola in September. The staff agreed and the work got under way. As the Spring semester rolled along, the problems that plague any yearbook staff cropped up. Lack of photos, missed deadlines, and other difficulties only brought the staff closer together. With Jane Macke at the helm, Kim Todtschinder and Greg Smith were soon turning out top quality layouts. Our patrons and advertisers helped finance the book thanks to the great salesmanship of Tim Walch. The photographers produced the great pictures which grace The Wolf. Under the leadership of Craig Shelton, the photographers gave up much of their free time shooting film both on campus and around the city. Bob Cahill, known as the yearbook photographer , Juan Dumois, Anthony Hogan, Mark Botello, and Ray White all spent long hours in the darkroom. Once the layouts and photographs were taken care of, copy had to be written. This task fell into the capable hands of Copy Editor Dave Moynan and his able assistant James Jonsson. The beautiful artwork come to you compliments of Graphics Editor Rosario Coballero, who designed the cover of The Wolf, and Kaye King. Also assisting were Joe Broome and Florencia Calero. By the time the end of school banquet came along, the awards made by Annie Gudaitis were very much appreciated. Kim Todtschinder and Dave Moynan were voted Mr. and Ms. Wolf at the banquet and were photographed in the newly renovated President ' s Dining Room. Despite the best efforts of the staff. The Wolf was not finished by the beginning of June, But Jane Macke, Kim Todtschinder, Dave Moynan, James Jansson, and Greg Smith, being the dedicated souls that they are, slaved through New Orleans ' record heat wave to bring you this book. Loyola, though, is unlike most universities. Early in 1980 the Deans ' Council decided to do away with the normal commencement tradi- tion of honoring all eligible gradu- ates with a diploma at the May ac- tivities. The Council termed Loyola diplomas a decorative item — an item for which graduates could wait to be delivered through the mail three to four weeks after gradu- ation. The Deans ' Council ' s decision reached the student body in early March through the grapevine. (No formal announcement was given the graduates until April.) Various students campaigned against the Council ' s decision, but that decision, despite student majority disagree- ment, had become a hard-and-fast rule by which future classes will live. Student body voices were not well received and Loyola University has a neiv tradition — the emp y diploma cover -or- graduation by mail! Dove Moynan 1980 Graduate 185 ' ' X X X X K X ; X K X X ; X K ; X The past year has been filled with excitement, joy, classes, parties and togetherness. It was a year of friendships, of new people and exploring other countries. It has been a time of pain and understanding, but all done and accomplished within Loyola. As Loyola sits nestled across from the towering oaks of Audubon Park we notice a serenity that characterizes our four year trek. Some of us have gone and others are left behind to carry one another and to finish the journey. We welcome those new students who will be beginning their own travels and we reminisce on the joyous times we shared with each other as another year closes and the pages are turned — only in our minds. — Dove Moynan 189 191 A Message From The Editor To the Loyola University Community: There was a song in the broadway show, Man of La Mancha called The Impossible Dream, When I started my college career at Loyola, tour years ago, that song could have easily described the yearbook. Loyola did not have a college-size yearbook in 1976 and had not had one for ten years prior to that. We had to start from scratch that year and under the direction of Kay Argus and a wonderfully dedicated staff, Loyola saw the return of the forgotten yearbook. I have had the honor this year to direct an excellant staff in producing the fourth consecutive Loyola year- book, the 1980 Wolf. After being on the yearbook staff at Loyola in previous years, I realized that the most impor- tant element in producing a yearbook is a dedicated staff. This year I was lucky enough to be able to work with a staff that shared my Impossible Dream of keeping the Loyola Wolf alive for another year. Jane, our Layout Editor, took control of the shop when I was not available. Her long hours of work and dedication will not soon be forgotten, as I passed the 1981 IVo editorship on to her. Dave, our Copy Editor, was not only a talented staff member, but became a good friend with inspiration when I needed it. Kim was a member of the Layout staff who stayed around until the bitter end doing everything and anything. Kaye, our Artist, joined us out of my re- quest and added to the color of the book with her imaginative and creative artwork. Bob, Juan, Anthony, and Craig, our Photography Staff, deserve special thanks for being there anytime at a moment ' s call. Dependable Jim and Greg helped out by being there whenever we needed them. I feel all the other members of the staff. Florencia, Joan, Joe, Mark, Ray, Rosario, and Tim, are special to me also, because without their support we wouldn ' t have had a 1980 Wolf. Special thanks also go to all the people who supported the staff. Our Profile writers, Vi Clementi, Marc Dedman, Marie Kursweg, and Joseph Seyler, S.J., added a special flavor to the book with their work. Bill Hopkins, our Year- book Representative, and his wife Annette were always there when we needed them, above and beyond the call of duty. Manny Cunard, our Faculty Advisor, gave us valuable advice, faith in ourselves, and most of all, the use of his camera. Lastly, I want to thank you, the reader of this letter. By reading this letter, I know that you have either purchased a book or borrowed it from a friend. As much as the Wolf needs a dedicated staff, we also need the support of all the students at Loyola to ensure the continuation of this publication. Our staff is wholly volunteer, so the cost of the yearbook pays only the bills we receive from the publishers. I have personally helped to make the Impos- sible Dream possible for the past four years. I now leave the fate of the Loyola Wolf in the hands of the Loyola student body and Jane Macke, the 1981 Editor-in-Chief. Dreams don ' t materialize unless somebody believes in them.
