CLASS HISTORY In September of 1953 we thirty-four pupils charged into Loyalsock. We were typical seventh graders, zooming down the hall to be first in class. In the spring at open house, Mr. Hornberger sponsored a display of our work in his class. On display were relics from the cave man period of history, such as dugouts and hatchets, carved by members of the class. We achieved the reputation of using more scotch tape, straight pins, and paper for decorating than any other class in the history of Loyalsock Joint High School. Class officers for the year were: President .... . . Sondra Burgess Vice-President . . . . Ronald McCarty Secretary . . . . . Carole Emick Treasurer . . . . Wade Driscoll Historian .... . Dorothy Bogart News Reporter , , . . Dolores Van Horn As we came racing back, we were very eager to begin our next junior high year - eighth grade. We found that three new faces had joined ours -'Judith Berry, George Griffith, and Catherine Sullivan. Miss Laverty became our new homeroom teacher when Mr. Hornberger left. During the year we had a class skating party at Roscoe Burgess's pond. After winning the magazine sales campaign, we were honored with a party at the high school. In February a new member joined us - Geraldine Sullivan. Class officers for the year were: President .... . . Wade Driscoll Vice-President . . . . Ronald McCarty Secretary . . . . . . Dale Bennett Treasurer . . . . . Sondra Burgess Historian ..... . . Dorothy Bogart News Reporter . . . . . Donna Morgan Auditors ..... . . . Dolores Van Horn Robert Thomas Sweeping down the halls in '55-'56 as Freshmen, we felt that we belonged to L.T.H.S. Dolores Van Horn had left us during the summer so we had a total of thirty-five members with which to face the busy year. During the year we had a class tour which took us through Baumunks' Lumber Mill. We also put up a Pennsylvania history antique display in .T ennings' window. Class officers for the year were: President .... . Judith Berry Vice-President . . . . Dale Bennett Secretary .... . . Robert Thomas Treasurer . . . . Sondra Burgess Historian .... . . Dorothy Bogart News Reporter . . .... .Tune Cott Auditors . . . . . Roy King Ada Letts Strolling into Loyalsock for our Sophomore year, we found that RonnieFrey, Glenn Brown, and Rita Bierle were no longer with us. We also found that we had gained two new members, Mary Davis and Marlene Keller. During the year, we lost two other members, Catherine Sullivan and Geraldine Sullivan. We chose our class colors, pink and grayg our class flower, pink carnationsg and our class motto, With the spokes of the past, we will build the wheels of the future. Class officers for the year were: President . . . . . . Robert Thomas Vice-President Ronald McCarty Secretary .... . . Donna Morgan Treasurer . . Sondra Burgess Historian . . Dorothy Bogart Auditors . . . . . Ada Letts J' une Cott We .T L111101'S frlldged i11t0 LJ.H.S. and discovered that we now had thirty members - three were missing - Marlene Keller, Charles Speaker, and Lee Woodhead, and we had gained one - Dale McCarty. In February we lost another member - Leta Forrest. In October we had a very successful Junior Play, Kentucky Sue. The highlight of the year was our Junior Prom which was held on May 2. The theme was Rendezvous with the Stars, and the gym was decorated in pink and silver in accordance with our class colors. This prom was a very successful eventg we thank the class members and the teachers for their cooperation. We held our reputation for using an abnormal amount of pins, paper, and scotch tape, but we also gained a record for earning the most money on a prom in many years. Class officers for this year were: President .... . . Carol Miller Vice-President . . . . . Roy King Secretary . . . . . Donna Morgan Treasurer . . . . . Sondra Burgess Historian ..... . . Dorothy Bogart News Reporter . . . . . . Marie Lewis Auditors ..... . . Tom J' arrell Carol Emick On our last lap, a year to go, we sauntered into old LJ.H.S. to find not only that we were missing one of our classmates, Mary Davis, but also that we had regained a former classmate - Leta Forrest. Early in the fall, under the supervision of Mr. Carl Pepperman, we began work on our yearbook. During October, we presented a highly successful Senior play, I-Iessie of the Hills. On Halloween we held a Halloween Party at the high school. Our Christmas Party was a successful one. Our class elected a few of our group to pantomime the Chipmunk Song. Our school year ended triumphantly with our May trip to Washington, D. C. g our Baccalaureate Sermong and, of course, our Graduation. Class officers for the year were: President. . . . . . . Vice-President Secretary . . . Treasurer . . Historian . . . . . . News Reporter Auditors . . . . . . RonaldMoCa1'ty Wade Driscoll Linda McCarty Sondra Burgess Dorothy Bogart Nancy Fiester Thomas .Tarrell Carole Emick As we graduate we look around and remember with nostalgia all the fine times that we have had here at Loyalsock. We feel indebted to our school. Here is where the foundation was laid for our futures. Realizing this, we hope that we all have laid it well, that we all have knowledge for the future. With the spokes of the past, we will build the wheels of the future.
