Class Hlstory We began our hlgh school career on a bright sunny day in the fall of 1947 at Elkland Townsh1p High School We found the doors w1de open for twenty four students Some of the faces had happy expresslone while others had sad Some tongues were loose and some were very taut As freshmen we had the home economlcs room for our home room filled one half of it On October 27, Barbara Howard moved back to Philadelphia, during the same term, Joyce Shadduck moved to Canton On April 12, 1948, Paul Bender joined us from Sonestown High School Our homeroom teacher was Miss Ide who succeeded in teaching us a few manners The faculty conslsted of Mr Carl Driscoll, Superv1s1ng Prin clpal, who taught Engllsh and biology, Grace Ide, who taught home economics, Andrew Barrow, who taught h1Bt0Py and phys1cal educatlo Nelson C Mullen, who taught mathematics and bookkeeping, and LaVerna L Saphore, who taught vocational agr1culture The class officers were: Clinton Boyles, President, Rlchard Randall, Vice President, Alice Caseman, Secretary, Beatr1ce Brown, Treasurer, and Cecil Bedford, Historian Returnlng to school as sophomores we felt a little bigger because we could look down on the class behlnd us We had the same homeroom with twenty one famil1ar faces and the same homeroom teacher However, we learned that our school was now called Loyalsock Joint High School During our term we welcomed Charles Howell who joined us from Robert Treat Junior High School, Newark, New Jersey, and Dean Hartford from Shunk Our teachers thls year were Carl Drlscoll, Supervlslng Prin cipal, Andrew Barrow, h1etory and physlcal educat1on, Grace Ide,home economics, Grace Laverty, muslc, Paul Marklewlcz, sclence, Floyd Masteller, English, Nelson Mullen, mathematics, LaVerne L Saphore, vocational agrlculture The class offlcers were as follows: Presldent, Richard Randall, Vice Presldent, Carlton Rinker, Secretary, Alice Caseman, Treasurer, Margaret Robbins, and Historlan, Cec1l Bedford The puplls who left our class were Wllliam Graffius and Reva Ramsey Wllliam Graffius went to Montoursvllle and Reva Ramsey went to Liberty Returnlng the next year as Junlors, happler than any year before, we walked lnto school wlth fifteen Ihul Bender rel1eved themselves of w1th us Durlng the year Beatrlce Bedford left our class Cecil and while Beatrlce settled down to the treasury, we held two performances famlliar faces Dean Hartford and scholastlc dutles and d1d not return Brown, Sylva Guleewhlte, and Cecil Sylva went to Canton Hlgh School buslness of l1fe To bulld our by Lucky and H13 Sons of the Range . She had tolerated ue for three years so she trled the fourth The faculty was: Mr Carl Driscoll, Supervlslng Prlncipal, Mr Barrow taught hlstory and physlcal education, Mr Masteller, social stud1es, Miss Ide, home economlcs, Mies Laverty, mus1c, Mr Nrtmer, vocatlonal agriculture, Mr Albright guldance and soclal etudles, Mr Mullen, matdematlcs, and ur Gleookler sclence For 8Ct1V1tlE8 we had a Hallowe'en Party and Sen1or Play tltled, What Happened to Uncleu every member of the class worked hard to f1n3nC8 the tr1p to Nashlngton In November, we lost a member of the class Cllnton Boyles left h1s friends in school and Jolned

the United States Air Force The class offlcers for the year were: President, Carlton Rlnker, Vice Pres1dent, Mary Lou Pardoe, Secretary, Hazel Lewis, Treasurer, Grace Streby and Historian, Richard Randall This is the year of our graduation As we go down the way to the reality of so many dreams, to the goal for which we have strived, we begin to wonder: do we really want to leave all this behind?
