Annette Fiechter played the piano for many special occasions as well as accom- panied the choir and Jill Roaden, whose vocal solos were a part of so many pro- grams. In the Bible Club, Band Alpha Domo, Beta Club Choir and other organizations the sen1ors were well represented Goodness' What w1ll they do w1htout us next year' Corxnne McClurken represented us at Barbourville and Lexington in the oratorical contests Freda Sergent beat all the girls getting a husband and now her name is Doughty Annette F1echter was named for the Balfour Award and now her name is 1nscr1bed on the placque in the library alongside s1ster Peggy s by the wayj At the mountain Laurel Festival Loyall was well represented w1th Patty and Irene as attendants and Annette as PTIHCCSS And don't forget our Roberta Burroughs' She has made qu1te a reputation for her drawing and lettering On the whole the graduating class of this year has been a very f1ne one with prospects of a bright and happy future May we end this brief hlstory of our h1gh school years with a ' Thank You' to all the faculty and parents that have made it pos sible for us to have attended Loyall High School We also w1sh to thank the K1wan1s Club the P T A all the Churches 1n town the Loyall Merchants and everyone else who has supported the school in such a fine way and thereby made it possible for us to engov so many advantages The Senior Class MASS PIHIPHHIY The Chinaman seats himself at the small lacquer table lays as1de his p1pe of dreams and slowly and stealth11y reached for the mag1c wand A breath of untold fragrance brushes my cheek as he deftly waves the wand over the mystic sands Sands that will brlng the future before me that portray the trials of my friends and classmates that will br1ng me back after many dreary years of wander1ng to Loyall H1gh School and the scenes of my youth The Phosphorescent l1ght of the room begins to fade and a ball of burnished flame comes from the distance First a tiny flame gradually it comes nearer and nearer My soul seems to rise within me A courtroom appears in the flame Voices are raised in argument carefully I listened to the words of the lawyer Your Honor they should have a divorce I have known both the plaintiff and defendant s1nce their baby days The1r courtsh1p began 1n high school Even then they did quarrel As for their children they should be put 1n some school where they w1ll never hear arguments as to the merlts of basketball and the hxgher intellectual planes that practice on the p1ano brings Oh no your honor Jlmmy never did tell the truth He 1S Jerry's lawyer and I did not say that p1ano play1ng l1fted the mind I only said that basketball was not as cultural as music Your honor I object The witness spoke out of turn As for me telling the truth Patty Jean you know that I never s1de step from the Glory Road Each figure looked and sounded farruliar and who could they be but Jerry W1lho1t Patty Frost and Jimmy Nolan The courtroom fades and soon I see a lovely woman Ruth Bowman leading a child of three The child 1n a sweet voice asks Mama when will Papa Phil be h me? To wh1ch she answers Soon dear Ihope ' Faster and faster the scenes change I then saw as the owner of the largest motion picture firm in the Unlted States Dorothy Howard She had as her secre tary vice president and advisor Joann Irvxn Lois Epperson and Barbara Creech respectively I6 !
