The depth of his chargers was overpowering, and the closest team was thirty points behind. Making this record even more amazing, was the fact that Norrix finished last in 1962. Unbeaten in Conference dual meets, the Knights lost only to Central during the season. High points of the year were the new records set by this squad. Larry Snow broke the Conference record established in 1941 when he ran the mile in 4:33.8. Steve Metzger threw the shot 48 ft. 10x in. for a new record. The two-mile relay team broke its own record by seventeen seconds in the Portage relays to capture honors. West Carpenter Csee picture on page 85D high jumped 6 ft. 1M in., ran 21.3 in low hurdles and a 10.4 hundred- yard dash. Competing in four events for three years, Wes would be considered Norrix's star trackman. Senior Mike Long contributed to team's great year
