LOWACADIAN 1946 ll OPHO ORE HI TORY The First ball whizzed down Allen 1 getting a strike with Bob Pernasilice presiding and Helen Louis waiting with eagerness to substitute for him. Carolyn Cryilik industriously kept score while Farrington Young held the cash. With a helping hand, Miss Hickman, Miss Hurwitz and Mr. Kilpatrick guided us through the whole game. To increase the weight of the money bag we sponsored a successful Halloween Dance with Johnny Ross, orchestra, decorations, and all the trimmings. During the 'second and third frames, two assembly programs were produced by our class- matesg one was a Christmas play and the other a discussion based on the value of math. The big event that put the Sophomore on the map was their Sweetheart Ball sponsored during the Valentine Day's frame. Topping all informal dances of the year in music, deco- rations and enjoyment, it also brought the class a large net profit. The music of b '0lllN2lT S or- chestra put everyone In the Mood . It was definitely a night when, quote, a good time was had by all, unquote. Football and basketball seasons were met by Sophs who were really on the beam. How could the I V's have gotten along without that group of our Sophomores? The girls were well represented in basketball, hockey, bowling and other girls' sports. G. A. A. would have a dif- ficult time surviving without them. Band, chorus and glee club saw the musically inclined QPJ members of our class through- out the game. The high score brought by these activities during the game really put the Sophomores near the top. 29
