Our present officers, President, Klargaret Genackg Yice President, Russell 1 Uuflog Secretary, lvah Schantzg 'l'reasurer. Lois lloshart: Official Reporter, Florence : Peterson, furnished us with numerous ideas which aided in producing such comely . . . masterpieces. O lt was with the highest ideals that we entered 'llraining Class in September, 1931, 9 As we look through the school this year, at the students whom we will leave I behind us to their destination and doom-we regret not having a few more years to 2 spend in the roll of our dear old Academy. 2 Q 3 NVC started the year in right by having a Clet-together-and-get-acquainted' party, at YVhetstone Gulf. So many ghost stories were told Cby the light of the f campfirej, Nliss Foote taking the lead, that we were all in a restless frame of mind I U D I Gur carefully organized Basketball team became gradually unstrung, until but : a skeleton of the team remained. Class of 1932 H. HUMPHREY, Pres.,' M. KELSEY, Vice Pres.,- B. DUFLO, Sec.,' E. BARNES, Treas. FACULTY ADVISORS CLYDE H. GEERLINGS, RUTH .ANDERSON We entered Lowville Academy in '28 as Freshmen, 108 strong and as green as they come. Edwin Christiansen was elected president. The Juniors gave us the customary party and we returned it. We also ofliciated in moving up day with our cat and dogl' orchestra, and closed the year with a picnic at Whittakers Falls, chaperoned by Miss Bell and Mr. Parker. Our Sophomore year was most inactive, llfliss Bell had accepted a position in Utica, several of our number were gone and we lacked our Freshmen enthusiasm. We gave one party to raise money' but failed to participate in moving up day. As Juniors we regained our old pep and we elected Helen NlcCarthy president, but she was taken ill and her place was filled by Evelyni Buff. VVe entertained the Freshies at a kid party' and raised money for our prom by dues and selling candy. We gave a novelty hobo party and everyone came dressed as Hobos . Our prom was a great success. The gym was transformed into a forest by pine trees and a Well, served for a punch bowl. As Seniors we elected Henry Humphrey as president. Then began the real work. We gave a play Widow by Proxyi' which was a grand success. We sold everything from Christmas cards to candy to make money and succeeded. Student Council is another one of our accomplishments which We hope will continue after we are gone for it represents a great deal of work on our part. Then comes Senior 9 Q :O--of-0--If -0-U -0-Q--0--0--0-4--taint-U -0-0--rw--0--Cv-9 lf-lf-0' 00000 -out no- 'OvO0O'vOwO O O l0Cf -0-4--Q-lv-0--0--Q--9'-U-0-01-O--I-0'-Ov -I-0--0 'fl' -o--Q-.ont 014- --if-0 Ball, Banquet and trip. GIROUX, Miss LATTIN We entere J ville Academy as Freshmen in 1929, inexperienced and rather Hdumbf, but willing to rn. As Freshmen We gave our sister class a party and this seemed to start us on our career. Gur Sophomore year was rather uninteresting though we did give the Seniors a hallowe'en party. This year We have regained our pep that we lost last year. We started the year off right by giving the Freshmen a party. We are now knee deep in our Junior play from which we hope to realize enough for our prom. Our prom is to be held in May and vve're all anxious for it. We changed our class rings this year and have a picture of the front door set in onyx in preference to the old building. At the beginning of the school term we met and chose the following officers: President, Charles Houseg Vice President, Helen lWcCarthyg Secretary, Nlarion Levilcerg Treasurer, Maxine Ulrich. Next year we are looking forward to a big year as Seniors and hope we will be as successful as this year. -O-if-I--if-of-0--O--O--if-0--0--tv nl-4-0--9-O1-0--Qwovt--Ontntv-O--0-'mmf -0--O04--O--0--4 0--Ov-0 '94- MO' 'O0ONl O0O1 o 0 o --o-o-o--o--Q--0--o--o--o--o--9-.Q--Q--o-m-'DEI --o--o--o--u--o--o--o--e--s--o--c--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--sf-o-o-.o-s-a-o-c-c--s--o-fo--u O O O O l O' O l O O O O O 4.4.4..g.....g..g..g..g..g. g..g..g.....g..g..g..g. ..g....-. or Class ni 4 Ju dl -001000 O O O''O O l O0O l O O O O O O O l O O O O O O O l 4-4--0+-0-4,4 0-4-4-4-4+4'4--04-414-4-4-4-4-4 4-4- 4--0--94--v-0--9-out-000-4-9-suv-v 4-4-4-4--0 -0-4-0-944-0--Q--0--ol--v4,4--004--0-4-4--m 4-4- 41-94-4- 4-4- 0-4- 4-4- -4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4- O I I O I O I O I O O 0 D I I l I I I O GI I I I O'O O .l'lNOl'O O O O O O O O O O O C O O 000001-lv-Owl'-O'-0-0 I O Cui'-O O l O'-DHI'-O Owl' KENNETH ARCHER EDITH ARTHUR JAM ES ARTHUR KATHRYN BASS EUNICE BEALUK EUNITA BEALUK GILES BECRAFT BRADFORD BENNETT LEO BENTLEY WAYLAND BERRUS JOHN BIRCHENOUGH JOHN BOBAK ROBERT BOSHART VIVIAN BOSHART M ELVIN BOUBOULIS IJOROTHY BOYVMAN MARCIA BUFF WILMA BURNS GRACE BUSH LOREN BUSH LVIARY BUSH NOUVERT BUSH CLARENCE BUSHNELL FLOYD CANNAN LUCILLE CARRIERE WILLIAM CH ENEY ELEANOR COE JOHN COFFIN LVIARY CURTIS DAVID DARRING CARL DAVIS NIARGARET DOWLING HAROLD EDVVARDS LEONARD FALDZINSKI MII.DRED FARN EY CHARLES FERGUSON MARGARET GLENN LOIS GOODRICH MARGARET GORDON FLOYD GRAVES FRANCES GREEN ELIZABETH GYORE DOROTHEA HALL VINCENT HAMNIOND CLINTON HANNO WAYLAND HERZIG SPENCER HESS DONALD HIRSCH EY RAYMOND HIRSCHEY BERNARD HITCHCOCK CHARLES HOUSE KENNETH IDE PHILIP KLETT RUTH KOHLER FRANK KURILOW'ITZ Junior List MARGARET LAWRENCE GENEVIEVE LEE MARION LEVIKER HELEN LUSTYIK FLOSSIE MARRIOTT ESTHER MATTIS HELEN MCCARTHY ERWIN MILLER EVERETT MILLER ISABEL MILLER GERALD MONNAT BERYL BIORAN HARLEY MUNDSCHENK FRIEDA NORTZ ANNA NORTZ JAMES GTIS MARY O,CONNOR ANNA PAWLING CHARLES PAYNE PHILIP PAYNE LAWRENCE PEAEE LEO PIERCZNSKI DONALD RAMAGE JAMES REED LOUIS REED MAURICE REED GERALDINE RENODIN LAURA RICE I'IOLLAND ROBERTS GRACE ROGERS RUTH ROGERS BERNARD ROWSAM KENNETH ROWSAM HELEN SALSBURG JOYCE SEALY BETTY SEYMOUR DOROTHY SH ELDON ELLEN SH EPARD PEARL SLOCUM HAROLD STOLTZFUS PATTISON THOMAS LLOYD THOMPSON LYLE TURK BKIAXINE ULRICH' MILLER VAN NAMEE MICHAEL VINCENT HAROLD VIRKLER LYNDON VIRKLER HELEN WAGNER ORLAND WALDRON JERROLD WETNIORE ETH ELDRA WOLEE' LEONA WORMWOOD WILLIAM YOUSEY s-0 0--mm 0 0 0 Q c 1 0 0 0 0 0 o 0 0 0 0 o 0 s 0 0 0 s q-0.-Q---:SI Ig---s--O O 0--0--c-u--o--0--0--0--m-o--o--0--0--o 1 0 u Q a o--o--o--o:-o--of-o--0--o-- O--O-'O--0--I-0--Q -0--Q14--l--O--O--0-'O--On 'O-9 -O--if-M-M-Of-0 -Q--0--l--0'-0--0--Ov-I--r -Cui- fl' -O--9 -0--0-0 'CMO' -0--0--01-Q--0--O--0--0--Of-0-A-M-r-vvi-4--M-w-0 'OHCHC -0-0-of -0-4--o-Qc-900 'Owl' -0--0--M .nul- I--0-Owtw SOPHUMURES 0 0 0 C 0 l l l 0 0 0 0 O -0--0--0--Q--Q--0--M-0--n-su --0--of-0--0--0--r -O'-000'-O -0- -0--0,-Ono wiwiwlwv-M-V+-vw-4-+ HO' 'CHI' Class of 1934 A. PAczKowsKI, Pres.,' W. ZEHR, Vice Pres.,- R. BARRETT, Seng D. KELSEY, Treas. FACULTY ADVISORS HELEN JEWETT, VIVIAN MCGRATH, DONALD SHUTTS On June 24, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and thirty, a new class graduated on a yellow and white stage. The high school was certainly thrilled to have such a jolly group of Freshmen enter their institution of learning and it was proven by their form of initiation. One night several found themselves on a stoney road out in the country with the rain coming down in buckets . They were relieved of their foot weari' and allowed to walk home and were we Freshmen scared? Well, after the class became acclimated it had a few candy sales to increase the treasury. All of us attended our first high school party given by our sister class and it was appreciated g we still hope to return it. If you have noticed the honor roll this year, you have seen that it is practically covered with Sophomore names. lsn't that a good reason for our not having a great many activities? Our officers for this year are: President, Tony Paczkowskig Vice President, Willard Zehr, Secretary, Ruth Barrettg Treasurer, Dorothy Kelsey. KILPATRICK, Miss BENTLEY, Miss BOWMAN We graduated on June 19, 1931, with a class of sixty-seven. We entered High School with over one hundred strong. 1Wr. Davis took pity on us and told the upperclassmen not to initiate us. As a result not many of us were initiated but they certainly did take out their wrath on a few. Our class advisors are Miss Bentley, llliss Bowman and Mir. Kilpatrick. At our first meeting we elected Bob Sunderhaft, presidentg George ililahar, vice presidentg Marion Sunderhaft, secretary, and 1VIartha Griffith, treasurer. In October the Juniors gave us a Kid Party, although we did have to go home at 11:00 o'c1oclc. In January a special meeting was called by the president at which it was decided to send a sunshine box to Ralph Duflo, who was ill. A week later Ralph died. His funeral was attended by the Freshmen. Our activities for this year may seem few but we have been busy attending upper class activities and hope the Freshmen of next year will attend ours. -9--9--0-4--e--0--c--l--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--U-0-on -o--o--and IIC'--Q--q--0-. g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g..g. 2 cn va CB I-li O 5 Z a GJ E .cz CD GJ H Lu f 1 5 1 g g g g g g.-O O O-.g.....g..q..g..g..q... q..q..g..g..g..g g Q Q FRED ALLEN RUTH ARCHER DELEVAN ARTHUR FLOYD ARTHUR MATURON BACON MAXINE BARNES RICHARD BARRETT MALCOLM BEARS ELIZABETH BECRAFT ELM ER BELLINGER MARY BERRUS ARVELLA BEYETTE ROSELLA BEYETTE MARCELLA BIRCH ENOUGH DORIS BOSHART AREL BROWN EDWARD BROWN PHYLLIS BROYVN MARION BRUGGER INIAXINE BUCKINGHAM VIVIAN BURLINGAME HAROLD BUSH CHESTER CAMP MARION CANIPANY RICHARD CANNAN THELMA CARR NELLIE CHASE DORIS CHENEY GEORGE COAHN LETA COLLINS ELEANOR CORRIGAN RUTH CORRIGAN LOUIS COMPO GEORGE DAVIS ALLEN DOYLE VIRGIL DOYLE FRANCIS DUFLO MILDRED EDICK LEONARD FARN EY MARIE FARNEY MARY FELBER PHYLLIS FERRANCE EMILY GREENLOW MARTHA GRIFFITH DEWITT GORDON DOROTHY GORDON FLORENCE HABERER ARTHUR HAMBLIN RUTH HAMILTON ALTON HALL EUNICE HOCH g.....g..g..g..g g g..g..g..g..g..g ...g..g..g..g..g.. On returning from Plattsburg the class of '31 decided that the band should be given a Sausaphone and this instrument has helped the group in no small measure. The band had the honor to be chosen by the State Assembly to close the session this year and on ildarch 10 two bus loads of musicians and instruments left' 2 Lowville's snow behind for Albany's chilly breezes. Besides playing before the As- E sembly, they also played before Governor Roosevelt in the Governor's chamber. Lowville Academy may well be proud of their beautifully uniformed band and thankful that they have as capable a man as Mr. Askin as director. 'I' Q 2 The Junior band and orchestra, directed by Mr. Geerlings is made up of mostly grade boys and girls who are interested in music but not advanced quite far enough f to play in the Senior groups. They are coming along fine however and the Senior Q Band and orchestra need not worry about running out of good material as long as these juniors remain an organization. The orchestra too, has done very fine work by assisting with chapel programmes and functions taking place in the evening. There is some very fine material in the E Q orchestra and is becoming better as time goes on. E Y a E The High School Chorus composed of 120 voices presented the concertized Grand Opera 'lCarmen', in the Academy Auditorium, Friday evening, February 12, 1932. This is the largest chorus the school has ever had and the presentation of 2 Carmen excelled last year's production of 'fFaust. E The additions to the chorus this year are mainly in the alto and bass sections. 5 5 Next year it is hoped that a tenor section can be developed. The chorus will also go on a few trips this year and plans are being made for the chorus to give an evening concert at Lyons Falls. The chorus is under the direction of Mr. Shattuck who has done the finest chorus work we have ever had in Lowville Academy. At each meeting some of the members have recited short selections, read articles concerning dramatics or told in an interesting manner about plays they have seen. A few of the club members have selected and directed several short plays that were given at club meetings. Phyllis Bishop directed the Christmas play which was given in the auditoriumQ We decided at the Hrst meeting that once a month we should hold our meetings at the home of the members. After the business meeting we had a social hour, during which we played cards or danced. These meetings were most enjoyable. Each member paid fifty cents for dues. The club sold candy bars and had several candy sales for the purpose of earning money. Last year the club earned enough money to buy furniture which has proved very useful this year. The club has fourteen members including Bliss Crooks. Helen Forrest, president, has proved to be a very capable and dependable leader. lllildred Yousey and Jane Richardson are secretary and treasurer respectively. The work in this club is very interesting and instructive. Library Club Sponsorezl by HIISS GLENN The aim of the Library Club is to gain book lovers throughout the school. This club is organized to give those who are interested in library work an opportunity to liecome more familiar with it. ln the fall we had the opportunity to visit the Lowville Free Library. bliss Allen conducted the members through the building, showing us the children's room and their books, the reference books and how to use them. the numerous magazines, and the arrangement of the books on the book shelves which all proved interesting. In an effort to raise money for club pins, we held a series of pop corn and candy sales. During- the year we enjoyed refreshments at each meeting and a noon meeting and lunch together. A contest of true and false questions on books, the library, and use of the library is being held to determine how much we have learned and a prize is to be given at each meeting. The club subscribes to the Home Geography Nlagazineu for the library and hopes to continue the sub- scription for another year. Each member of the club is a scientist, a person who wants to know and under- stand his surroundings. TO learn what he wants to know, he listens, looks, reads, and experiments. A picnic in October proved to be something more than a picnic- it became an investigation Of soils, rocks, plants and trees. Many of the club members assisted in a collection of fungi-toadstools, mushrooms, lichen, tree shelves, moss and puff balls and many interesting types were discovered which aids our studies. Another collection of soils and rocks in the vicinity of Lowville has been started by club members. The microscope proves to be the ever-fascinating part of Our Science equipment. We have enjoyed Our research periods very Inuch and next year we are planning to widen Our scientihc scope and take up new subjects. Lone Star Troop Sponsored by MISS GOESEKE The first Girl Scout Troop of Lowville was organized in September 1931 by Miss Emma Goeseke. Thirty-four girls were enrolled under the pledge Of loyalty to God and country, helpfulness to other people and obedience to the Girl Scout Laws. Lone Star Troop was Oflicially registered with the National Organization, December 18, 1931, when twenty-three were acknowledged as tenderfoot scouts. The girls chose as their emblem the Star of Bethlehem. The captain is assisted by two lieutenants-bliss Jane Sperry and bliss Rhilda Farmer. The troop is sponsored by a Community Committee of ten members with blrs. Harvey Farrington as chairman. Eleven new members were taken into the club at the beginning of the year. At this time the old members enjoyed initiating them. During the year we have had four public dances and two private parties. On Klarch 7 we had a sleigh ride and each member invited a friend. A good time was enjoyed by all. We are planning a semi-formal dance in the near future. Besides this we have studied the life of Marshal Foch. The members have received pins representing the French Club. We also gave S3 for children's lunches. At the last meeting Miss Stegner gave us an interesting talk of her travels in Paris. She illustrated the talk by showing pictures. The entertainment committee is planning to conduct a meeting by speaking entirely in French. We are also going to learn about Madame Curie, Louis Pasteur and Rosa Bonheur. We have had a great deal of fun and learned many interesting things. We all hope this club will continue and be true French Friends. 'L'- 3 3 'I' e 3 Natural History Club i Sfronsored by HIISS LATTIN E P This club is composed of eleven members all of which are interested in History. 2 In this club we discuss Ancient man, his form, appearance, how he lived and de- 2 veloped, such animals as the Dinosaurs, fwe were much surprised to' find that this wild looking animal roamed New Jersey long agoj, Trochodon and Triceratops, also very ferocious looking, and the study of plants. Also a study of rocks was made and some unconceivable data was discovered, such as rocks being formed of dead fossils and other dead animals. Rocks are classed under the same heading as the ages. That is, Archoeozoic being the first rocks because they were composed of the first animalsg and so forth all through the ages. Projects were made on Ancient periods: the girls making colored posters and the boys making a study of the stars. Some made clay models of animals. bliss Lattin is now reading us The Lost World 3 ll very interesting book. This club is very interesting to anyone who wishes to find out about the earth as it was long, long ago. 5 E ......................,........,......... ,.........:3I Ig ..,. ...... . The object of the club is to acquaint prospective nurses with the training and course given in hospitals for nurses and to teach the rudiments of nursing in order that they may decide definitely if they will be interested in the work. Several discussional periods were enjoyed in reference to nurses' work. A trip to a hospital is to be taken later, thus contributing to the girls interest by seeing nurses at work. We have made a thorough study of the care of children and certain sicknesses which prove most interesting, not only to the individual who hopes to study nursing but to any girl who would like to become acquainted with the care of the sick. We have been able to obtain pins to show our membership in the club. We have had pop corn sales to help us to meet expenses. Next year we are in hopes of making our club better and increasing the membership. Commercial Club Sponsored by Miss FOLEY The Commercial Club was again reorganized last fall but gained more members than the preceding year. There are fifteen members of the club at the present time. The officers of the club are: President, llarion Farneyg Vice President, Harold Edwards, Secretary, lVIildred Farney, Treasurer, Kenneth Rowsam, Sergeant-at- Arms, Gerald Monnzxt. The purpose of the club is to make us better acquainted with the fundamentals of business. ln November the club had a Thanksgiving dance, which was most successful and well attended, we received a proht of eighteen dollars. One of the most interesting and amusing matters of the club was a debate, for and against bill boards. The negative side won but not without difficulty. We had a Christmas party for the members of the club and we are now planning to have a short play for Assembly program. The purpose of the club is to study the modern girl and togfit her to take her place in the community. We find it is not drudgery to learn about seemingly uninteresting facts for they arc brought out in such a fascinating manner that you not only enjoy them but they make an impression upon your mind so that, you pass the ideas on to your friends. The club's programs are two fold, educational and recreational. Everyone gets acquainted with new friends and feels as though she were a part of a large family. Another thing that adds interest to our club is the yearly play that is put on by the members of the combined Home Economics and Agriculture Clubs. Everyone has a chance to see what talent she has in this line of work. By putting on the play the club is able to send several girls to Cornell for a few days during Farm and Home Week. This is something that everyone can work for that is worthwhile. Agriculture Club Sponsw-ed by MR. KILPATRICK President - ' - LoUIs PooRE View President - AIILTON MERZ Serremry - PHILIP NIARTZLOFF Treasurer - ---- J. IJONALD TNTCDONALD There are twenty-four members in our club. In September we started our judging contest, to determine a judging team to represent us in the contest at Canton, Cornell, State fair at Syracuse, and Boonville fair. Three members make up the team, fexcept at State fair and Cornell trip when from 5 to 8 boys gol. To finance these trips we sold candy and garden seeds and also put on a play in co-operation with the Homemaking club. In the latter part of Bday, we are having a Father and Son banquet. We entered a basketball team in the Rrlohawk-Chenango league, made up of Agriculture Clubs. We put on an educational program with a booth at Lowville and Pomona granges. We are having a local speaking contest, and are entering the district contest to be held in lVlay. We hold monthly meetings on second Tuesday in each month. We are operating a Junior Cow Testing Association having about four hundred cows on test. We are also buying fertilizer, farm seeds and baby chicks co-operatively. SHUTTS The ulllodel Airplane Club was organized at the beginning of the school yeai with the idea of studying airplanes pertaining to their flying ahilityg also to make real flying models of large planes. A great many single stick planes were made while a few of the larger, cabin type planes, were made by advanced boys. The greater part of airplane building is done with balsa wood, tissue and ambroid all very delicate materials to work with. If it were not for the thought of having something Worthwhile when the models are finished perhaps the members w0uldn't be so patient. The handling and working with these delicate articles requires patience and a great sense of proportion. The members looked forward to our meetings because they were held in the Industrial Arts shop and they could work on their models all period. The real fun came when we could go to the Gym and try out our planes. Some soared through the air and stayed aloft a few seconds while others wouldn't go. Through craft building we have learned valuable lessons in carpentry. - Trail Blazers Sponsored by Miss ANDERSON The purpose of The Trail Blazers Clubn is to teach in an effective way the fundamentals of personal charm and conduct and apply them in all walks and emergencies of life. At each meeting a committee chosen by the club prepares a program, being both of an instructive and entertaining nature. The members have learned to be very frank with one another in their discussions of desirable customs and practices of different students. Our motto is A person may have spent many hours and many dollars in dressing with elaborate care, but a breach of etiquette will mark him at once as an undesirable individual. Our club has gradually grown in popularity and membership until we now have about fifty members. Plans are nearing completion for the presentation of a one-act play, Sauce for the Goslingsf' the proceeds of which will be used to defray necessary expenses of the club. Miss Anderson sponsors the Trail Blazers and under her supervision we feel that we have learned and accomplished a great deal besides having a good time at our meetings. .g..g..g--g.-pq.4..gf4.-5--Q.4..ga-Q..g.....g..g..g..g.-g..g..g..g..g..g..q..g..g..g.-q--sq F- -0--0-fo--0--0--0-'O -O--0--M-Q--0-'O--0--0--0--0-0-I--I--0--C--0--0--0--v -Q-0 Gym Club I,I'FXiflf Ilf - - L. At the first meeting there were so many present we decided to organize two sections, so we took only a few for the Day Dancing Club and the remaining and many more joined the After Dinner Dancing Club which has held its meetings on Thursday evenings. The following were elected as officers of the Day Dancing Club : Richard Garrett, President, Margaret Ryan, Treasurer, and Charles House, Secretary and Pianist. During the year our meetings were somewhat irregular but we have made quite a bit of progress, even though we have been handicapped by the infrequency of the meetings. At our meetings we have had talks on ball room etiquette, by various members of the club. Our meetings have been very interesting indeed and all the members have taken hold well in all the activities. We have had sales which have proven very remunerative and we hope to have a dance in the future which we are sure will go over big. , I Q i 6 'I' 5 'I' Senior Play Write-Up This year the Class of '32 presented its first play Widow by Proxy. It was a big success and ably acted by Evelyn Buff as Gloria Grey, a young and unmarried music teacher, Hester Griiiith as Dolores Pennington her companion and supposedly a widow, Franklyn Hews, Captain Steven Pennington, Dolores' brother-in-law and a naval officer, Earle Barnes, as Mr. Gallagher, Steve's lawyer, Mary Toussaint as Madam Gilligan, a fashionable modisteg Jane Richardson and Helen Forrest as Angelica and Saphronia Pennington, Steve's old-maid auntsg Henry Humphrey as Jack Pennington, Dolores' long lost husband and Kenneth Cannan as the Pennington butler. A great deal of credit is due Miss Mary L. Crooks whose coaching made the play. About S70 was realized and the experience gained was well worth the effort. 3,,..,..,....,,.,,..,.....,..,..,..,..,........,.....,..,........ We've met regularly every Thursday night in the school gym. Everyone has shown such enthusiasm that it has been worthwhile. We have a membership of fifty-two. We meet not onfy to dance but also to stress ball room etiquette. Our Christmas dance was a folly party. The gym was decorated beautifully with dim colored lights, ballons and Christmas trees, all in keeping with the holiday spirit. It was a huge success. We all got together one glorious night just after a wild snow storm and went to hdartinsburg on a sleigh ride and danced in the town hall. Anyone who attended this party will admit he had a fine time. Please don't get the impression that we just have a good timeg we've shared our fun by donating fifteen dollars to charity. We are planning on donating some money to the school for a new piano for the gymnasium. We owe much to our pianist who practically donates his services. In October the club had a Weenie roast at Whetstone Gulf. During a few of the meetings some of the members participated in horseback riding while others played tennis. Once the members went on a hare and hound race. Although the hounds did not overtake the hares, it ended in a good hike. A successful Leap Year dance was held in January. Owing to the weather we were unable to hold as many winter sports as we had planned, but we did manage to go skiing and snow-shoeing. The club has grown in size until it now numbers about fifty members. We call ourselves the Vagabond Club because we enjoy sports of all kinds, and like the out-doors. We hope that the club will increase tenfold next year and the weather will permit us to pursue our art, for we have had many good times and are looking forward to many more. 0 o a c 9 n 0 o o o--a--o-fo--o--o--c--we--o-4--o--o--of-c'-a--o--o--o-a--o-'-CII IIC---o--Q--c o o o o a o --c--o--o--4--o--o--a--o--o--we--a--o ?
