Xe We dedicate this yearbook to the Scandinavian Vikings, who existed from 700 to 1100. We the Vikings, have inherited our name from these brave and adventurous Norsemen, Having acquired the name, we the students of Lowther, should do every- thing in our power to uphold it. We must live up to the Scandinavian Vikings, for they were efficient people, and also fierce fighters, who were determin- ed to be the best. We the Vikings, only hope that as the time passes, the forth-coming Vikings can carry on the true Viking tradition and keep the Viking spirit alive. X i 1 X X y Page 1 Many times during the next few years as you continue your educa- tion you'll hear best wishes from many people. I want to take this opportunity to wish you success and best wishes regardless if you are leaving Lowther Junior High School or returning for another year. I wish to each of you the experience of thinking a new idea, planning it, organizing it, and following it to its completion and then having it be successful. I wish you the opportunity to experience the same process but to have that idea fail. I wish you could know how it feels to run with all of your heart and lose because that is the experience of life, I wish you would find something so worthwhile that you think it is worth investing your life. I wish you could become so frustrated and chal- lenged as to push back your barriers of personal limitations. I wish you will make some obvious mistake and get caught and be big enough to say I was wrong. I wish for you the true experience of being a leader and having the opportunity to develop that leadership. I Wish for each of you the experience so necessary to take your place as an adult in society. Best wishes! I J. WAYNE BASTIN Principal Page 2 The Viking yearbook staff worked many long hard hours trying to publish a yearbook the student body would be pleased with. Page 22 1'w, A lfpx . e ii' ' Q19 i X I K X , s 6,5 'lb As the Freshman year comes to a close, the freshmen look over their years at Low- ther, with mixed emotions. Glad to be mov- ing on to the new and exciting challenges, but also sad at leaving Lowther, the fresh- man can only hope that the future will hold even better days. One of the freshman's credits to the school was helping to get the dress code changes, as they realized Lowther must keep up with the times. Another of the freshman's contributions to the school is the fact that they helped to promote Viking spirit to all students, and that even during the rough sports seasons they helped keep up the morale of their fellow students. During this time they have grown to love and understand Lowther Junior High. Looking back on their seventh and eighth grade years, these Vikings breathe a sigh of gratification.
