IN MEMORIAM My Friend....was one of few. His eyes would shine, and his lips would cany such a warm smile that all the world would smile back. His strong hands could hold the weapons to destroy a nation, yet he chose to hold he breath of peace. As a father he loved his children, and as a leader he loved his people. Maybe this man was too good for our time, too good to live in such hatred as fills the world today. Too good....to live with us. by Dorothy A. Calvin. 11B MR. ROMANOW'S COMMENT The loss of President Kennedy has taken something away from all of us. The past four days have seemed like years. We have tried to tell ourselves it wasn't so. and yet all the time we knew that it was. We have come back to our daily routine numb and exhausted from the shock of the weekend. We wish there were some way to atone for this incredible turn of history, but there is not. We must go on; for this world is not for the dead but the living. The best thing that all of us oan do is to set for ourselves and our country new and loftier goals. The respect we showed for the man when the tragedy happened indicates that we are capable of these higher goals love, respect, and lreedom. On The Death Of A Great Man There was a man how tall he stood Above a great country. He was our youngest president. His name was Kennedy. He went down South to make a speech About our great country. He, just like Lincoln, wanted to Make all the Negroes free. While he was going through Dallas He was assassinated. They rushed him to a hospital While in suspense we waited. A man named Oswald shot him twice; Once through the throat and head. And Mrs Kennedy just sat Holding his bleeding head. The shock of this man's death was great. It left the whole world numb To think that anyone could be So stupid and so dumb. Every country in the wide world Has for him shed a tear. And he shall be remembered For many, many years. Now Jacqueline wears black each day And tries to do her best While Caroline and little John Grieve for their father's death. We cannot be as civilized As we pretend to be Or Oswald would not have shot down A man like Kennedy. And thus I dedicate this song To wife and family Of our great president, whose name Was John F. Kennedy. by Carol J. Toth
